Do I need a double buggy?

Hello all,I have a 2 1/2 year old & a baby due in December. I want to be prepared for the new arrival but am agonising over whether or not I need a double buggy. I'd appreciate your comments. Do you think a buggy board would do? Alternatively, someone has told me that clip on fold down seats are now available for pushchairs but I have no idea what they are called or where to start looking for them on the internet. Any ideas? All feedback gratefully received.

have 2nd baby due today, and my dd is 2 years and 1 month. i have brought a buggy board to use with my pramette for when we go into town etc. But also have a second hand 3 wheel buggy to walk the dog with.

Does your 2 yeard old enjoy walking? mine is bad but getting better i am just hoping if she hasn't got the option she will walk more....!!!

She enjoys walking but can be difficult to persuade which direcion to walk in! I just know she'll be jealous & want her pushchair back as soon as she sees no. 2 in it! Good luck with your new arrival.

Our ds was 2y3m when dd was born. We got a buggyboard for him to use. At first it went on the travel system - and as it had barely been used for 2y, he wasn't fussed about seeing his sister in it. Once she was 3m old and could go in the Maclaren buggy, the buggyboard was transfered onto the buggy and when we used the the travel system ds rode standing on the edge of the basket. It was actually easier for me if he did that anyway. Again, because we hadn't used the buggy for a few months, ds didn't get too fussed about seeing his sister in it.

The buggyboard worked very well. It goes up and down over kerbs without any problem, ds got a good view of the world as we traveled, was able to chat easily with me and was quite protected from th weather by being sandwiched between me and the buggy. He had unusually short legs (still does, is alsways in trousers 12-24m smaller than his shirt size) and struggled to walk long distances, so the chance to walk or ride as needed or as he chose was very helpful. I would recommend the buggyboard - I don't think at this age it's worth spending on a double buggy.

I'm told that most of the cheaper ones are very difficult to push with children of very uneven weights in them in any case.

Ds was 2.2yrs when dd was born last dec. I bought a marco sky which was fab but after around 2mths ds decided he preffered to walk. Personally would go for a buggy board unless you walk lots and lots.

just be aware if you have a pram/buggy with a handle all the way across that little ones head doesn't hit the bars. 2 yellow pages by the pram for little one to stand on gives a good indicator of this.

MY ds was 22months when dd was born i bought a double buggy and only used it for 6months as he wanted to walk after that.WAs a big waste of money but did manage to sell it for £30 less than i bought it!

No you don't need one. I hate them. Is DD a good walker? Are you having a C-section (may make sling tricky)? Do you have a sling? Buggyboard is £50 or cheaper second hand and a good sling is about £50. Cheaper and much easier to deal with. Don't like seeing children that big in buggies myself. I used sling/b/board with a 24mo and 22mo gap and it was fine.
