Not a specific one, but generally try to get one with bright, clear pictures, and large numbers, so they are easier to find. Then your ds/dd will be able to help look for the numbers each day.

Playmobil do some lovely ones

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 14/10/2006 15:28

we have a string with 24 numbered stockings on it and fill the stockings with a tiny present each day (a tiny candle, play food, a box of raisins, etc)

but the playmobil one looks nice also.

Playmobil advent calendar is too fiddly IMO for a 3 yo (also it takes for ruddy ever to assemble it you know!)

I have seen some beautiful trad German ones in that little toy shop in Covent Garden this year and I am going to get one from there. Just been looking on line but couldn't find them so far...you know the sort - really old fashioned illustrations, with glitter on, and HUGE

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 14/10/2006 15:35

now...ahem....do you think you could link to that?

the steiner ones are nice, myriad do them, but there is some sort of mystical mathematical symbolism thing as to the order in which you open the doors

FrannyandZooey · 14/10/2006 15:39

I wish I could find it Filly

when I was in the shop I thought "Now I am going to remember the brand of these and go home and find one cheap on the interweb"

but I didn't, so I am going to have to go back to Cov Gard and get one there, shame hey?

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 14/10/2006 16:48

am

there used to be a huge bazaar place there, like hawkins bazaar only real. with loads of joke stuff and little toys and tat in the casement.

we went there every christmas to choose our own stocking fillers from when i was tiny.

when I took ds there yr before last (I think) it was gone

MamaMaiasaura · 14/10/2006 16:50

Yes!! get the playmobil one. Is absolutely fab and no sweets

Ds loves the playmobil one. will be getting another this year as santa from last year is in the prison of his castle. He also wants the nativity but I have said that baby jeses does not want to be in the dungeon with the dragon.

cupsnakes · 14/10/2006 16:52

we have one of the felt hanging ones which we have used every year since ds was a baby (he is 6). There are velcro pieces which you place onto a scene each day.

cupsnakes · 14/10/2006 16:54

here's a nativity

cupsnakes · 14/10/2006 17:03

here's a reuseable wooden one

threebob · 14/10/2006 17:11

Kinnerton Thomas the Tank Engine for us - no nuts, so imagine a chocolate every day for a month and no allergic reactions. Magic.

cupsnakes · 14/10/2006 17:23

this Christmas tree one is similar to the one we have

franch · 14/10/2006 19:13

Great suggestions everyone. I like the urchin one but not sure I could think of 24 presents - think I'll go for the Blooming Marvellous one which I think DD would love.

Thanks!

I got one like the Christmas Tree one in the Matalan. It's a Christmas pudding. Last year I put a quality street in each pocket, this year I've ordered an advent calendar filler pack from the Chocoholics catalogue.
