THINKING OF WASHER DRYER COMBINATION ANYONE GOT A CRACKER TO RECOMMEND?

Got no room for separate washer and dryer, only option is the combination.

In the past, ive heard of complaints that the dryers take too long to dry clothes cos the drum has been wet. I dont know if technology has moved on since then.

If anyone has a great combination, please let me know.

Thanks

no no no.... "quick wash" & dry? 4 1/2 hours. New model.

We got a Zanussi, same reason as you, it is cold water only so washing takes awhile but it v good. The dryer isn't bad - I only do the iron dry setting and then let things air afterwards and only when it's tipping it down.

I think the biggest problem is the drum size, tumble dryers have much bigger drums than washers normally so you have to halve the load after washing to get effective drying AND they are condenser dryers which don't work as well as regular dryers.

I'd suggest getting the biggest drum size you can afford 6-7kg rather than 5kg) Theres also a good recommendation site

My new Zanussi washer/dryer arrived 2 days ago and it's fab! Bought it from John Lewis. It's being going pretty much non-stop because I've been without a machine for a week!

BloodyTenaLady · 14/10/2006 13:46

Well so far Zanussi wins, anymore for anymore?

I had a smeg - don't buy smeg it was rubbish

I had a hotpoint washer dryer and it was great.

It is true that washer driers dont dry as quickly as a seperate tumble dryer but I've have one until last month, but if you dont have room for seperates its better than wet washing hanging all over the house (I know because thats what I have at the moment!)

Had a zanussi for a while but it didnt last as long as the hotpoint.

I have had a Hoover one that was very good (don't remember the model though). However we were told by seller that in order to ensure "drying" was up to the expectations we should just fill it to half it's capacity.

The best thing of our new one is that it has a very good capacity and you can fill it to its fullest and still dries quite well. It takes more or less time to do it as our previous one. It is also very silent compared to any other we have had in the past. It's a Hotpoint Aquarious WD640

We had an Indesit - the cheapest one they do - and it was great. Didn't always use the dryer and when we did, it was best to halve to load but I would definitley get another one. HTH.

We have a combination Miele, 7 years old now. The dryer takes 1/2 the washing, but no repairs needed so far, it goes on at least twice a day (one washing plus one drying if not more).

Twohootsandapumpkin · 15/10/2006 21:45

Don't buy an LG one! I had a cheapie Whirlpool before I got this LG (about 2 mths ago) and it was great. The LG one wa quite expensive (I did research it first and it seemed to get some good reviews) and it's RUBBISH!!!!

fuzzywuzzy · 15/10/2006 21:56

I think miele is supposed to be really good for washer drier combo's. But they're riiiillllly expensive, they do last though.

I have the Miele too, I tend to do mixed washes ie, half hanging up stuff, half drying stuff, so the dryer isn't overloaded.

Never ever buy an Indeshit one. I have never ever come across such an appauling appliance as my last W/D.

KBear · 15/10/2006 22:38

My one used to take two hours to dry two bath sheets. Seriously, don't waste your money. Buy a washing machine with a fast spin and a compact tumble dryer - hide in a corner with a tablecloth and a plant on to disguise it!! My energy bills were huge using that thing.
