are they crapola?

if you have a hardwood surround, do they rot?

haven't got a Belfast sink yet, but will have in our new utility room. Have a mahogany drainer in kitchen, had it for 7 years, no sign of it rotting yet! Think it depends on the type of wood.

oooo I love Belfast sinks

We had one in our old house. It had a wood surround and it did rot Wouldnt have another with a wood surround.

have belfast - love it, but have broken several glasses since having it fitted in March!

Decided not to go for draining board cut into wood, couldn't see how it wouldn't rot! If we need draining board, we use the one in the utility room.

mil has one with marble either side like a draining board then the wood worktop.
my mum has one with the wooden surrouns and it rotted around taps area.

both still pull out the basin to do a wash up!

We inherited one with our new house and it looks lovely. Don't think I'd have one if I was re-doing kitchen though as it's got no draining area (we have to balance a draining rack over the 2nd sink) and, yes, we too, seem to be breaking a lot of glasses!
