Nightlights / lamps - which one please?

DD1 has decided she dosn't really like the dark anymore after nearly 5 years.

So - nightlight lamp things. Not the ones that you plug in and they glow slightly around the socket. An actual lamp - any ideas for places for me to start please?

We've got a few from IKEA - one is like a proper lamp but all enclosed iykwim - shade is pink and flower shaped in cross section, and base is green - think it was about £15.

Other one is a rechargeable ghost thingie.

Another is a battery powered drangonfly on a spring ! This one is fab as it takes 3 AA batteries and works for days and days . Was about £3 I think - I have bought loads for dd's friend's birthday pressies - very popular ! Nice bluey glow !

dd loves her Go Glow light. It is rechargeable so no trailing wires.here also available in Fifi !

Ikea - good idea but it'll be an age till I manage to get there.

That Go Glow light fro Argos - does it glow on it's base, does it act like a lamp as well as a torch?

Yes the torch part sits on the base and it glows , the base sort of diffuses the torchbeam.

If you're buying a lamp, watch the sort of bulb that it takes. DS has a thomas lamp, with a special bulb fitting and the bulbs cost around £12 each.

You CAN buy "night time" bulbs, of very low wattage, that fit into 'normal' lamps. We have one of those in DS's bedroom light

Mine have got what look like bedside lamps but you turn them one by touching the base part of the lamp, once for dim, again it gets brighter again even brighter and again turns it off. Makes them v easy for children to use and the dimmest one gives just the right amount of light for all night. I got ours in Focus do it all.
