Right, after all our our searching for a twin pram (baby due Jan and dd will be 20 months) a kind mner (theblonde) suggested the jane twin two pram...Not on our original list and I didn't know about it BUT now dh & I love it....

Its more than we wanted to pay BUT it's the best from what we have seen.

Has anyone got this pram..?? Whats your views on it..?

Wow looks fab pram! Will be looking in town next time to see one up close! Not that i need one!

shhhh · 27/09/2006 19:56

ha..! Glad someone likes it..! I fell in love as soon as it was suggested to me..God how sad am I..??! Who'd have though 3 years ago that I would be drooling over a pram..?! Told dh in bed last night that I am excited at getting a new pram. His reply "My you are easily pleased" . BTW I haven't seen one in "real life" but love it anyway..Just wanted to see what others thought.

So we have someone who agrees it looks nice..A bonus with a twin pram..!! Thanks kidstrack..

i would def get it if i could afford it!! - lovely looking, easy to use (don't have one but had a go in the shop!), can use rebel and matrix seats on it but only the new ones (pro fix???) and i've got the old ones so that would be another expense.... so sadly i'm not allowed one!!

shhhh · 27/09/2006 21:02

so you have tested it paulajayne..?? I only saw the 3 wheeler one in mothercare and although dh liked it I wasn't keen..too much "metal" bits on show and didn't like the position of the brake iykwim. BUT this one looks so much nicer .

It is expensive BUT neither of us have really seen anything we are 100% on unlike this one. Is it easy to manouvere.? What about handle height as it doesn't adjust...Is it at a good/comfortable level..? Im 4ft 11in and dh is around 6 ft..

i have the nomad, which is the single version. i love it, really and truly love it.

TheBlonde · 27/09/2006 21:19

shhhh - are you near a John Lewis? That's where I saw it

sweeneytoddsmissus · 27/09/2006 21:36

I have the jane powertwin shh my ds was 20m when dd was born 5 1/2 m ago. It is expensive but I have used it loads and it is a god send when shopping as you can get in all the shops. you can't bump it up and down stairs easily though of course. Think carefully about how you will be using it and how good your dd is at walking.

My ds still sleeps in the pram all the time and I would have found life more diff without it definately.

The main criticsm I have is the instruction manual which is shit (pardon my french) and the wierd tyre pump (not like your av bicycle pump)but I haven't had any flats until last week which after over 5 months of use is pretty good.

so I would recommend it - but if your daughter is taller/ heavier than av be aware that you might find it difficult to steer on uneven surfaces later on - My ds is on 98th % for weight/height and I have found it more hard going recently (doesn't help that dd is the same!).

shhhh · 28/09/2006 09:34

thebonde yes I have a jl at the trafford centre. Due there on sun so off to call 'em now to ask if they have one to view..Still can't see it on their website. Thanks

Mrstodd, what do you mean about "Think carefully about how you will be using it and how good your dd is at walking"...DD is quite good and confident at walking but atm she wants to be carried or pushed after a short while of walking, thats why we thought it best to get a twin..
Not sure what weight she is (around 23lb's at last weigh in I think) but on the chart she is just around the average mark..in fact she may be slightly below it..Sorry don't know what centile she is. She was 9lb 4oz at birth but seems to have gone more in proportion iykwim. Also wanted a twin as I expect ds2b to take over her birth weight .!!

Also suppose the pram is only going to be used for just over a year so I suppose weight shouldn't be to much of an issue..??!

aitch71, thanks for your comments on the nomad..noone seems to have anything bad to say..

BTW thebonde, thats for the suggestion of this pram . Think dh wishes you didn't suggest it . LOL..!!!

hhhmmmmm... think i'd better retract earlier advice! - have just been in pram shop where i saw the twin two - the people who bought it have got rid of it already (baby only 5 weeks old) because its so massive - like pushing a train!!

i'm thinking of getting a mothercare hoxton - anyone any thoughts on them??

suzi2 · 28/09/2006 14:21

I've been eyeing it up too but from what I've seen it looks REALLY long. And I called a local pram shop yesterday who have it but she said that they aren't stocking it for much longer as it isn't proving popular. Although they're still going to be stocking the other Jane model.

It's baffling all this!

shhhh · 28/09/2006 15:59

hmmmm .

About the Hoxton, that was what we had finally decided on before we heard about the jane twin two...We saw it in mc last week and do like it although compared to the ones we viewed it was v basic.
It folds down quite compact for a twin pram although theres no place for a car seat given the fact that neither seats face mum or dad. (why don't suppliers now start making prams that face us..fgs, it seems to be what the majority of mums now want..grrr)
Also it is quite heavy. I didn't life it (due to "bump") but dh did and said it is quite heavy..15 kgs I think..??

BUT overall we did like it..well in comparison to the others.

my friend is really pleased with her emmaljunga one, i think it faces her? much as i love my nomad, i'd be hesistant about getting the twin two if it is too long...

suzi2 · 30/09/2006 20:12

shhhh - I looked at the two Jane ones today. The woman in the shop said that they're the only tandems they stock as most tandems are too long/heavy to lift up kerbs etc. But they stock those simply as they can take car seats. She wouldn't recommend them for a newborn and toddler. She said the powertrack had a max weight limit in the front seat of 15kg and they have had a couple of them brought back when toddlers have got near that weight limit and the front has collapsed. She never said whether the twin two had the same limit. So perhaps worth asking. Mind you, my DS is such a long way off 15kg I can't see that happening!

have pretty much decided on the Nipper BTW... fab drive.

hairymclary · 30/09/2006 20:26

just to throw a couple more into the mix how about these:

discovera

inglesina - very expensive but can have a car seat or carrycot on the back and a seat on the front

zooper that way you can just take the toddler seat off when not needed

Stiglet · 30/09/2006 21:19

Hiya, I have the powertwin and I'm really happy with it. Lots of plus points. DD1 is 20 months, DD2 is 11 weeks.

The powertwin is actually smaller, lighter and cheaper than the twin two (twin 2 was brought out to accommodate two carry cots). If you look on the 2 links below you can compare..

Twin Two

Powertwin

shhhh · 30/09/2006 22:14

suzi2, tried to look at them at my local jl but they don't stock it..!! Will prob order online and will ask if there is a maximum weight. Still like the look of it though...Thanks for the advice.

Hairymcclary, I prefer a 4 wheel pram..3 wheeler is what I have now and not so keen...
OMG that 2nd pram is massive...!!! .! Now that is like pushing a train..!!
Like the 2nd one but not so keen on the toddler top seat..Good idea but I would be worried if it fell on the baby underneath. Thanks for the links though.

Stiglet,we prefer the twin two as it's 4 wheel and not 3..somehow I can't convince myself to get the 3 wheeler. I'm only short and the view I got when pushing it wasn't great and with my current pram I ram the wheel and foot plate into the backs of peoples legs . Think with 4 wheels it doesn't stick out as much iykwim..!!!

OP posts:
shhhh · 30/09/2006 22:17

meant "like the 3rd one" but not keen on the top toddler seat.....

OP posts:
Stiglet · 03/10/2006 10:19

I bought the powertwin because I'm so short (4'11) and the handle bar folds down lower than most and I felt like I was steering a ship with the bulkier 4 wheelers! TBH I love my powertwin so much I bet the twin two is fab also

shhhh · 03/10/2006 16:30

thanks stiglet. Well my local jl don't stock it so I have been on a mission to find one to test and the cheapest price..Mmmmm nearly there..!!
