I want to use cloth nappies for no2 (due in June) & have been recommended - by the Nappy lady - either Bimbles/bumbles or Tots Bots, both with Air Flows or Rikkis wraps. Anyone used either or both of these?

Hello

We use Tots Bots with Air Flow Wraps for DS (who is nearly 2). We started with Motherease One Size (MEOS) which are great but DS grew out of them at 10 months (he was big born). I think the Nappylady would have recommended the Tots Bots option to us had she known that.

We have 18 or so Tots Bots size 2 - with the applix fastening. I find them very good and we've not really had any leaks (only if it's overfull - 13 hours or so). Some people say the nappy nippa fastening allows for more flexibility in fit but we've not had a problem. The applix has started to come unsewn on a few nappies but I just sew them up on the sewing machine. I guess I should have returned them for mending but it's easier to do yourself. The wraps are great (popper fastening so can't be undone by little fingers). We also use a fleece liner in them and a booster at night. Also got the lot from the Nappy Lady who is brilliant.

Have just bought my new ones, in the past I used Bambino Mio, but they were very bulky and the wrap had velcro which irritated my daughter's tummy. This time, I have gone for Mother-ease which are shaped, with poppers to close, then Air Flow wraps. Got them from the Nappy Lady. Also very cool, I live in Kent and you get a discount!

We use tots with applix (couldn't get the hang of the nippa ones, they always seemed to sag down at the front). The tots are great; just as absorbent as a disposable and more leakproof. They look a bit bulky but if you get slimmer nappies you have to change more often.

Can't remember which wrap is which out of Rikkis and Air Flows; we used both - the velcro ones when dd was small (easier to get the fit just right, and keep the newborn poo in!) and poppers later when she was capable of undoing velcro.

Its worth looking on the UKParents buy&sell forum for secondhand totsbots. About half of ours are secondhand and its hard to tell which is which really. So they last well!

I can never remember which is which with the Motherease wraps either -- I have used the velcro ones with terries. With Ds I did proper fancy folds for the terries, with dd2 I go for mimimum effort and just fold them into pads.

Out of the various wraps I've bought, Motherease are one of the best, as they're very light, dry quickly and don't leak through the fabric. They will eventually leak at the legs if you're a cr*p mum like me and don't change the nappy often enough. I also quite like Bumpy wraps available from Green Baby. (sorry, can't do links).

I've found it works better if the wrap is relatively large, as they don't gap round the legs so much (but pad-folded terries are quite bulky). Then again, so are tots bots. I'm currently using Large size on dd2 (16 wks and 12 lbs).

I like the look of the Tots Bots, and if I was starting from scratch that's probably what I'd go for. Don't know abou the fleece wraps, though.

Hi Scampadoodle!

We have 20 totsbots nippa fastening - took a few goes to get the hang of it, but really snug. One of ds' first tricks was to undo velcro - nippas take a little longer for him so I can intercept

Also use Motherease popper wraps which are great. Whales or plain colours are the nicest choice IMO - we have the purple and yellow pawprints too which are a bit insipid.

Naturebabies wraps (cute patterns) also fit reasonably well over Totsbots, but not so great if the legs are chubby.

I have 2 fleece Tots redraps which I use for warmer nights - they look so cosy and allow the wet to evaporate - nappy is always cooler and damp rather than wringing in the morning IYSWIM. I put one booster in the nappy at night.

Using tots fleece liners (about £1 each) after a long unsuccessful time with the flushable paper liners.

Got the nappies and Motherease wraps from twinkleontheweb.co.uk (or .com?), the redraps from Totsbots (when they were at the Baby Show) and the fleece liners from Kittykins (new nappy people but good stock already I think).

All the best! Happy nappying

Thanks everyone! Think I might go for TotsBots, then.
