Really Really Nice Construction Toys

Just gave DS2 his second Bruder construction toy. The first one has been very very well loved and still works pretty well. They're not expensive, and they're beautiful. Here is his first one, and Here is his second one.

Gosh they look great. Ds would totally, totally love them. He is currently in his pjs pretending to be a muncher (we are experts on all parts of the bulding / demolition trade ) with a pair of scissors

NotQuiteCockney · 24/09/2006 08:41

We have a lot of construction toys, and some good construction books, too - mostly in French, though, as the English ones suck.

The Bruder ones are such good value, and so beautiful. I haven't had a good look at this morning's one yet, but I really want to try all the moving bits.

(You missed my thread about the party? It was huge, again, whoops.)

Oh bloody hell I missed the whole thing about the party altogether

sorry have not emailed and generally just been crap. Been one of those weeks, but we are looking forward to Saturday. I will look for the party thread now

NotQuiteCockney · 24/09/2006 08:45

Here's my "after the party" thread: here .

I think DS2 is invited to a baby party next Saturday morning, but you're presumably coming in the afternoon anyway, what with naps?

No need for apologies, I understand about busy-ness!

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 24/09/2006 08:57

I am not sure if I have been especially busy, just crap I think

The Bruder toys have now gone to the top of ds's Christmas list

NotQuiteCockney · 24/09/2006 09:10

If possible, your DS can have a look at DS2's when he visits. (I say, if possible, because atm, only I am allowed to touch the new one.)

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 24/09/2006 09:41

LOL I would like a look, I am not sure of the wisdom of showing ds though

I will warn him in advance that there may be untold riches of which he may not touch

NotQuiteCockney · 24/09/2006 09:50

There's no chance of him not seeing them, DS2 has been intermittently sleeping with the old digger, and I expect him to now sleep with the new one.

He's also really into trains at the moment, so the massive lego train set is out a lot. I'm sure your DS will enjoy himself.

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 24/09/2006 12:25

Bloody hell he may want to be adopted. He is going to adore being around other boys, although you probably remember from last time he is alternately bewitched and bewildered by this strange new species

NotQuiteCockney · 24/09/2006 12:28

Yeah, he should enjoy himself. The bowling alley seems to be permanently out atm, so there's loads of noisy things to do.

There's also the "race around the house in circles" game, which was v popular yesterday. Along with the "annoy the cats" game .

NQC - sounds like you need to make a trip to Diggerland. We went last Saturday for DS's 5th birthday - he calls it Digger Heaven and it is! www.diggerland.com - down the A2, then jct 2 of the M2. Max 40 mins from Blackwall Tunnel, 20 mins from Dartford Tunnel.

FrannyandZooey · 24/09/2006 12:40

LOL

he is extremely fond of cats so we can appoint him Defender of Felines

Have emailed you but forgot to ask: do you know a gym, either near you, or near Cov Gard, that I could visit without having to be a member and without costing hideous amounts? I could imagine wanting to go when I am there.

FrannyandZooey · 24/09/2006 12:41

Ooh KB we keep meaning to go there as well. Quite a trek out to our nearest one but my god it looks fab

NotQuiteCockney · 24/09/2006 12:57

Oh, we've been, although not for ages - we should go again.

We liked it alright last time, but DS1 was too young to do most of the stuff. And I'm afraid the petrol (diesel?) smell made me go quite green, sad pathetic thing that I am. (Oh, and the food was icky. Shocker.)

Hmm, there's a gym v near us, but dunno about memberships. I found one at Covent Garden at £8 per visit, which I suspect is not reasonable. And I found the Fitness First near us, which goes on about memberships, not about day use ...

(We do have an elliptical cross trainer at home, if that helps ... presumably your hotel doesn't have a gym?)

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 24/09/2006 13:00

No gym at the hotel - £8 would be ok for one visit, I guess, but cheaper would be better. What the dickens is an elliptical cross trainer? I am still an ingenue at all this gubbins.

mysonsmummy · 24/09/2006 13:52

thanks for the link to that construction toy. do you have any other sites that sell toys for 4/5 year old - we are so bored with wollys its just crap. thanks for any you have.

NotQuiteCockney · 24/09/2006 14:41

Hmm, we have a really good local toystore (which is where I got my diggers from, actually). I'm sure others on here can make recommendations ...

We took a picnic so didn't sample the food at Diggerland but what I saw of it didn't look great! This was me when i got off the SpinDizzy Ride. I kept telling them I don't like spinny things but I was bullied into it. Had to lay down on the grass after - nothing like drawing attention to yourself!!

NotQuiteCockney · 24/09/2006 19:28

Ah, see, if I go on a spinny thing, I stay nauseated for a day or something. So I didn't do much at Diggerland.
