Do you have a tandem or a side by side twin pram..?? Pros and cons please..

If you have the side by side option do you struggle getting into shops/places..?

Looking at getting a twin pram but not sure if a tandem or side by side pram is the best.

TIA

i loved my twin aria - so lightweight and very easy to get through shop doors/lifts etc.

(im selling it at the moment if it what you decide)

shhhh · 23/09/2006 17:43

thanks j&rm. So you don't have problems with doorways etc. I looked on the other thread but its from 2003 so think things have moved on slightly iykwim ie theres more choice and different prams available. One point I picked up is where you shop..Our town is quite modernised and we are local to mcr city centre and tc so suppose doors ways are more equiped for double prams.

Not looked at that m&p one but will have a look over the next few days. Thanks for the offer.

Anyone else got any advice..BTW I have read that other thread and it's quite dated with prams etc. Advice appreciated..!!

my boys were born 13 months apart and im not very big framed.i tried pushing a tandem buggy with just one in and i couldnt even get it up a kerb! it was too long and i didnt have enough weight behind me to push it well and manouvere it.i got a side by side from mothercare with a bar all the way across the top and it was brilliant.no problems pushing it at all and made it easier for both children to see well ans not get bored.good luck choosing.

hiya shhhh - I came on here to ask pretty much the same thing! Until today, I had dismissed all twins as I thought they were wide, heavy and was worried about DS poking the new baby. But today (while eyeing up the Phil & Teds) I saw the Nipper double. It's only 77cm wide and VERY light and pushes easily.

I have gone off the P&Ts as the new baby, if anything like his/her brother, will not be content lying staring at the back of a seat for more than a couple of months. Have been thinking about the Jane tandem too. But I'm not convinced. The First Wheels city twin looked good as the seats can be forward or rear facing and you can add a carrycot.

BUT, what I really want is something light, small, easy to handle, with seats that face either way and where one seat can take the Maxi Cosi Cabrio car seat! but it doesn't exist. Would be interested to hear any thoughts?

I you get side by side go for an all terrain, absolutely fantastic, they move by themselves, if you have a tandem, go to the gym to work on your muscles, we have both and singles!

I have this one
which is the old model of this one:)
I absoltuely love it
I have a 21 month agegap between my youngest 2, and now that they are 2 and almost 4 I still use it, although not the toddlerseat anymore, alhtough even that someitmes...but my ms can stand wonderfully on the back of the frame, so no need for a Buggyboard or anything like that

Can anyone recommend a store that I can go and see lots of different double/twin prams in. I have read all of the advice (thanks, will help loads :-) ) but we would still like to go and test these things out before we buy. We live in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and would be happy to drive up to an hour away, so we didnt have to go to 20 shops, looking at one in each store. I have 20 weeks left before I'm due, but my husband works at sea, and is away for upto six weeks at a time ( just gone off again) so I need to get sorted soon. Any ideas would be good, thank you :-)

I currently use a phil and Teds ...love it...

and Very large 3 1/2 year old (5 year old size) LOVES sitting in the BACK seat! so 12 month old has the front seat and the best view!

shhhh · 24/09/2006 14:04

thats worth knowing nannyl..It my concerns about dd's view in the back seat that also concerned me.

Julesmolly, we went to Mothercare world yesterday. The world stores should stock all prams inc double/twin prams...advice..Ring your store before to check they have them to view.

I did this on the off chance and only found warrington had all 3 we liked to view... Shocking that mc sell these prams but noone seems to have them to view or even in stock..!!
BTW we checked 5 local branches till we got to Warrington..a little further than we wanted to travel but at least we have seen them now. Also....I wouldn't buy from mc as you can usually get cheaper on the web. HTH.xx

Thanks shhhh
I have looked in mc world in Leeds, but they only had 2 decent ones to look at and no assistant there to ask questions about folding, seating etc etc. I will try some more mcw store though, and yes mc are expensive compared to the internet. I have to say though for those thinking of M & Ps, when I was there the other day, 4 people where returning pushchairs for different reasons, and I was only there less than 10 minutes, it put me off their one and only double buggy. Thanks again for your input :-)
