Underfloor heating - anyone got it in a bathroom? Is it good? How does it work?

Is there a knob you turn on in the corner of the room or something?

Am thinking of having it in bathroom.

I assume you can only use it under tiles?

We have it under ceramic "limestone look" tiles. I t works very well, on a timer positioned just outside the bathroom door. It's easily adjustable if you want to go on holiday, or if you want to adjust according to outside climate etc. Otherwise we don't touch the controls at all. Our system has been going for 3 years now without a hitch. There are formulae for working out how much you need to cover a certain sized room, but any good electician could advise.

I believe it's also good under wooden flooring - not that you'd want that in a bathroom - but could be OK under laminates, vinyl etc. haven't looked into it myself.

my parents have it in their bathrooms and it's lovely. so much nicer stepping out of the shower at their's, you don't get that horrible chill that you normally do and you don't have to tiptoe to avoid freakishly cold tiles. the dial is just outside the door under the light switches and you can have it under most floorings afaik... my aunts old houe had it under wood floors and carpets

great - thanks - I'd like it, but was worried about it being a faff, sounds good though!
