experience of Citroen Grand Picasso

Thinking of buying a Citroen Grand Picasso. Has anyone any experience of reliability, toughness to family life, servicing costs etc? We really like features and space / seating for family of 3 older kids.

We have a Citroen c4 grand Picasso and I love it. We have 4 kid's so needed a 7 seater. It has individual seats so plenty room for car seats etc. We've never had anything go wrong with ours and because we bought a 1.6 the insurance is cheap too. When ours eventually needs replacing (nowhere near that stage yet though) we'll definitely get another one.

We had a 1.6 hdi vtr+ semi automatic for 3 years. We had it from new.

At first we loved it. It was great in regards of space and very easy to drive. It was economical for its size.

However, the seats were the most uncomfortable I have ever sat in in any car. I have back problems and they really aggravated it, but even my children started moaning about them after we had had it about 6 months. It was fine if we went on a short journey, but longer than 45 minutes and we'd have to stop frequently.

The gear change was lumpy. It was really awful and as the car aged it got worse. We only had 18k on the clock when we got rid of it so I dread to think what it would be like with high mileage.

The electric windows in the front would stick. The foamy stuff inside the frames kept falling out and the windows ended up marked.

The 2 seats in the 3rd row were nigh on useless. Even our 7 yo nephew was uncomfortable in it. When they were up there was no room for anything in the back.

We had a Xsara Picasso before this one, and it was a far superior car.

Run like the wind

I have one through work and it is by far the most dreadful car we have ever had.

Bits snap off (eg our boot handle - we were then told by the garage that they've never seen that fault before, and that we must have been opening it incorrectly???!) and the whole thing feels flimsy and cheap.

I am so, so pleased that it's just a company car and I get to lose it soon. I would absolutely second the comment "run like the wind".

i love mine.

Bought from new in September 2009 - and it's still going well.

One of the reasons for buying it, was the three full sized seats in the back. We have three teen boys - tall with long legs. It suits us well. We rarely use the 2 extra back seats, but it's always useful to have them for extra passengers. Those two are more suitable for young children - The last few trips we have had out, it's been me having to get in the back as the 'smallest' . Not v elegant :)

However other than that I think it's great. I have the 1.6l Exclusive model - so all the nice touches. It seems fairly economical to run - diesel engine. We use it for our long drives to France as we can get loads in, and it's a comfy ride. It has been slated in reviews as being a bit 'bouncy' on the road, not such a sporty ride, but it's fine as a family car.

Despite being large inside - and looks large outside - I don't find it an issue to park up. We have a tight driveway entrance and I always manage to reverse it out of there. It's good being a little higher up too- get a good view of the road in front.

So far, touch wood, i have not had to have anything done to it. New tyres and wiperblades. I have only done 29000 miles though in the 5 years.

I love it - and will keep it until it dies.

i see someone upthread mentioned issues with the gear change?

Mine is the automatic - so no issues there for me.
