How long in bodyshop after collision?

Hi, had a rear end collision last week. Whole back window smashed in and one big dent to rear. Not sure if any more damage underneath.
They took my car in the day before yesterday.
Just wondering what sort of time fame I'd be looking at.
Also if it were to be a write off would they let me know straight away after inspection?

Generally mine have taken about a week, but maybe up to two weeks if they can't get parts straight away.

They'll need to do the inspection and then submit it to your insurance to get the go ahead to fix, or the say so to have it written off (in this case it sounds like it would be an economic write off if at all, so it depends on how much your car is worth).

I'm not sure whether it would be the garage or the insurance that would contact you if it is a write off, probably the insurance company.

Thank you. Turquoise, I bought the car a few months ago for around £2.000
It's a 54 ref so thought it could possibly be an economical write off?
Jelly, I'll hinder them in a day or so.

Ps we also found the exhaust bracket in the boot after the accident so the guy who came out said its possible there is damage underneath.
The bracket did need replacing though so may have been a bit flimsy

Rear end because someone went into the back of you, or because you reversed in to something?

If it's someone else's fault, get a hire car arranged by their insurance company - that way you don't have to worry too much about when it comes back, plus you have leverage if it's a write off and they inevitably want to pay you half what your car was worth.

Someone went into the back of me at traffic lights W. Their insurance are dealing with it.
I called the bodyshop before and they said they had sent the estimate to the insurers and will wait for them to give the go ahead.

I'm worried now after reading something about fixed price repairs and what a money game it all is.
I guess my car will be devalued anyway because of the accident so I can only hope the repairs will be ok.

Now the frustration starts!
Called bodyshop today who said that they were waiting for go ahead from insurance and it had been placed 'on hold'

Called insurance who said they HAD given the ok for repairs!!
Now it's the weekend !

As I said, get a hire car via the TP insurers - paying £50 for every day you don't get your car back tends to focus their attention.
