Hipseats

Has anyone got one of those hipseats for carrying 6 months+ around? I thought they looked good, as he's growing out of the papoose rapidly. But they're £35, so I'd like to know if they're worth it! The other plan is to go to Boots, open the box, and wander round for half an hour with it!!

It was the best £40 I've ever spent! Dd is 2+3 now and we still use it regularly, as she hates the buggy. I can carry her around a shopping centre on it, and not be exhausted after a couple of hours. Go for it!

What about using a sling? No hands needed and can use until 2.5.
here is one

I use one to nip in and out of school, rather than drag out the pushchair for a 200yd walk. I used it a lot when I had a 20 month old non walker, it was invaluable then as I just couldn't carry her very far. I keep it in my car and find it veery handy.

A woman at my Mums and Tots group has one (her son is about 8 months old) - she always has it on so I guess she likes it!

I have one but don't really use it as I can't carry my daughter (22 months) far on it. I tired using it when she was about 6 months and found it hard because my arm would have to support her weight. It got better as she got older and could support her weight more (she crawled/walked early). I tend it use it if I am going a very short distance, ie the video shop/post office and dd will walk most of the way but prehaps not all of it. But most people here really like it and I bought one based on recommondations here - but I like it less than most people here. God I am rambling - hope this makes sense to you.

I've got one and use mainly for times when a pushchair is impractical. The fabric is quite hard wearing and still looks good after 2 children and 3 years. It is comfy too, especially with a heavier child, although dd sometimes fights against my arm a bit when holding her on. If you want to try one out for free, some National Trust properties loan them out for walking round their houses/properties. Ours was from John Lewis and was about £32 I think, so it may be worth shopping around before you buy.

I borrowed one from a friend and it was absolutely fabulous. Worth its weight in gold. I used to drive wearing it so I could just get (very heavy) DS2 out and plonk him on with no fuss.

How about having a look on E Bay? They always seem to have the more expensive things at such cheaper prices......

Ghosty · 05/04/2004 08:34

I've got the NZ Hipseat. I bought it for NZ$80 which is 27 GBP ... but of course I bought it here in NZ ... don't know if they ship to the UK.
It is great and I am looking forward to using it with DD but I didn't use it that much with DS ... he didn't like it but then he was already 3 when I got it so he wasn't used to it.

Thanks... so many positive responses that we went and got one yesterday. Seems good so far!! I see what you mean about the inside pockets though...
