wendy house/climbing frame

We have a small garden but would really like to have something for the kids. I had thought I might be able to find something that combines a house part that they can go inside with a climbing bit on top and maybe even a slide or a swing. But a quick browse on the internet tells me that maybe I'm asking too much for a small garden. I'm a keen gardener so it also has to blend in and look ok to adult eyes - there's nowhere to hide it. I don't mind paying quite a bit for the right thing - anyone got any ideas?

hatter, try www.activetoy.co.uk. We've just bought the Langley tree house and I don't know who's more excited about it's arrival - me or the girls. It's elevated so won't spoil the grass underneath. Apparently you can also add a ladder, Fireman's pole and slide from this, but we didn't go for that option (too expensive). Also have a look at the TP things - we have the giant swing frame and it's easy to add stuff to the frame once they've outgrown it. Lucky sprogs!!!

Oooo I'm so glad this thread came up! I've been guessing at what a "Wendy House" is (as it's one of Maisy's favorite things, you see). But why is it called a Wendy House? (Sorry I know it's a little off the thread....)

OK ...... I defy anyone to explain why it's called a Wendy house!

I'm fairly sure it's from Peter Pan (originally titled Peter and Wendy) by JM Barrie. Wendy is nearly killed and the fairies build a house around her - because she is too ill to be moved.

?I wish I had a pretty house,
The littlest ever seen,
With funny little red walls
And roof of mossy green.

We?ve built the little walls and roof
And made a lovely door,
So tell us, mother Wendy,
What are you wanting more?

Oh, really next I think I?ll have
Gay windows all about,
With roses peeping in, you know,
And babies peeping out.

We?ve made the roses peeping out,
The babes are at the door,
We cannot make ourselves, you know,
?cos we?ve been made before.?

I was just looking at www.activetoy.co.uk and I can't believe that for £900 they don't include a ladder with the play fort!!

Hi,

I was a bit shocked by the prices on the active-toy website - for £900 I'd expect a bit more than the basics... Thanks for the quadro tip - I love the concept - it's fab. And I know dh will just adore redesigning it all the time. Just not sure if I can bring myself round to the colours. I'll keep thinking and looking

Would recommend TP. Ds has an Explorer frame, with the slide, scramble net, and tent for the top.

He loves it. WE have a small garden 11 x12 and it fits in well without dominating garden. You can add things as you go along.
