Who manufactures car seats that go from 9kg to 11yo?

Like the Britax Evolve which the fit-finder on the Britax website doesn't list for our car?

I can't see Maxi Cosi do one - am I wrong?

I see there are a few in the Mothercare catalogue, but they look too grown-up for my 2yo - I want one that reclines still for him if possible.

Or should I just get another 9kg-4yo seat and buy another two when both boys are a bit older?

does a britax first class si fit in your car?

i have one for sale.

hunkermunker · 16/09/2006 11:47

It IS possible - there are seats out there that do it. Look here

I don't want to have to keep buying blessed car seats

No, Misdee, it doesn't Britax seats rarely fit in my car.

And...for my manners post:

Hello, Twig. You're looking marmitey

And thank you, Misdee.

Ma-mighty

sancerre · 16/09/2006 11:48

Is Jane Indy one??

hunkermunker · 16/09/2006 11:54

Yes, Misdee just showed me that one on MSN - the child is secured just with the adult seat belt which worries me a bit though. Cannot imagine putting DS2 in it! Think I might just get another Maxi Cosi as I know it fits and I'll have more choice of seat for them in a year or two.

Jane Indy is 15kg plus (they changed it earlier this year). There are n't many as they tend not to perform all the different functions well. Having said that got an Evolva Ultra for dd but can see why the seatbelt routing wouldn't suit all cars and the "recline" would be a pita as you have to decide before you fit. Concord do one (Ultimax or FixMax I think) but it isn't as highly regarded in UK as in Germany and uses a wedge underneath to recline iirc.

beckybrastraps · 16/09/2006 11:58

There's a Recaro one, which is more expensive but fits more cars.

hunkermunker · 16/09/2006 11:58

LIZS, you have a point - I'm trying to get a car seat to do for a 2yo what I'll need for an 8yo and that's not possible, I don't think, not at the level of safety I want. It may be once these car seat regulations have been in for a while that they come up with better solutions, but I don't know that there's a seat with this spec that exists now that I'd be happy putting either DS in.

My ds is 9 but is 138cms tall. Am I right in thinking he doesn't need to be in a seat as he is over 135cms? Anyone know for definite? (we have a booster seat, but it is plastic and damned uncomfy for longer journeys.)

aaronsmummy · 16/09/2006 12:00

Britax elite but that is discontinued.

LIZS · 16/09/2006 12:00

It was a TriMax I was thinking of .

sancerre · 16/09/2006 12:00

Recaro yes I'd forgotten them - lovely seats, ds has one. But it would still need the seatbelt, rather than 5 point harness, so prob still not what you're after HM.

beckybrastraps · 16/09/2006 12:00

here

beckybrastraps · 16/09/2006 12:02

No, they have a harness. Have had to look for dd (2.6, but outgrown her stage 2 seat). It can be removed when they're older.

sancerre · 16/09/2006 12:02

ooh that's one I haven't seen before (was thinking of 'start'). Looks good though, as does lizs's one

purpleymonkelydinklydoo · 16/09/2006 12:04

We've got the trimax for our 12mo and really like it.

Scoobydooooo · 16/09/2006 12:09

ok help i have a 4 yr old what sort of seat should he now be sitting in?

mum2monkeys · 16/09/2006 12:36

Sorry haven't read whole thread but Reccaro do....

MrsBadger · 16/09/2006 12:49

Scooby, if he's over 15kg he's big enough for a Group 2 seat like the Concord Lift Evo or the Maxi-Cosi Rodi ie a booster with a back and wings, but if he's petite then he'll last a bit longer in his current Group 1 (Priori -type) seat as they're safe from 9 to 18kg.
