Why, when you buy a spoon for a toddler do you have to buy a fork as well???

Ds3 hardly uses forks but uses spoons a lot. Due to his habit of throwing things in the bin we have a lot more toddler forks than spoons. So it really annoys me that I have to buy a fork to go with the spoon. Does anyone know where you can get metal spoons with plastic handles on their own?

Sometimes you have a buy a knife too! As if a baby is going to cut up his food with a baby knife. I don't know about spoons on their own but just wanted to add my rant!

Oh, yes the stupid little knives. If anyone's little genius has actually ever used one, please post here!

you can buy plastic spoons on their own but not the metal ones that i've seen really. why not just use teaspoons if its metal spoons your after?

i got a set for dd as she wanted to use a fork but is far too young for a big fork but the spoon is no differant than a tespoon really, wouldn't have bought it for that

hate the little knives why?

DS uses his little knife to 'cut' up his food! He is 2.11 though.

PinkTulips, I just find that he can't grip the teaspoons as well as the chunky handled toddler spoon, gets fed up and throws the teaspoon away too! And the plastic spoons don't really scoop the food up as well. OMG I need to get a life!
Cece, respect to your ds!

i'm not one to comment really... my drawer is full of all sorts of ridiculous spoons for babies too! weaning spoons, those stupid curved one supposed to develope right or left handedness (free with mag, one is missing and she uses the remaining one in the wrong hand), baby spoon, fork and knife set etc. for the most part she eats with her hands and off mine or dps plate if she gets a chance so don't know why i bother!

my 2.5 year old has been using a fork since she was 18 months old and is very keen to use a knife too ..

this is a result of benign neglect at the dinner table and an older brother

of course I do not own any toddler knives

my children use grown-up cutlery

stop pandering to them .. chuck out the toddler crap .. a teaspoon and adult fork is fine
