Help - is my plumber having a laugh??!

I'm half way through having a new bathroom fitted and the taps went in today these . I noticed the hand basin tap keeps running for a good few seconds after you turn it off. I asked the plumber about it, and he said it was normal because of the shape of the spout, and that the bath one would do it too. I can't believe that's right - and the bath tap (same design) doesn't do it. Does anyone have similar taps, and do they really do that??!

my friend has these in her bathroom. trying to think, when we have stayed the night.... don't remember any problems with them.....

A friend has kitchen tap similar to that (with the long spout) and it seems to run for a while after you turn it off.

Well logically the water already in the spout will run out won;t it?

But whether it would be that noticeable, I don;t know.

DH says it can happen because there's a long way between the taps you turn off and the spout and it's full of water which siphons out more or less slowly, often depending on the diameter of the taps. It's more pronounced in the basin taps than in bath taps. That'll be £40 please. Dh says you can also pay in kind.

Plumber and expectant father here. Yup, I agree that could happen with your taps.

Why do us plumbers have such a bad reputation?

When I signed up to this board I never dreamt I would be replying to plumbing questions!

Our kitchen tap is similar, and I'm afraid it does exactly that. Mind you, I barely notice it now.
