Bread Makers - Which is best?

Quite fancy the idea of getting a bread maker and have been looking at the ones on the John Lewis website today. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a small compact one at £40 and an all singing/dancing one at £100?

Would love to be able to do bread rolls as well as normal bread loaves. Do I have to have a particular type of machine for this or do they all do the same?

why do we have to have bread makers these days?
i'm sure there used to be a great pleasure from DIY (time consuming but satisfying)
spose that's it- we all want the taste of the real thing- but don't have the time to do it... any real bread makers out there?- as opposed to machines? (I am not a Luddite!)

I have got coeliac disease and have to follow a gluten free diet. Recently bought the panasonic and it has been great. Much better gf than the usual dry stuff!
