Buying a car seat for 14mth old - Which one?

My dd turned up yesterday with my dgd in a car seat imo was far to big for her, it had no integral harness, she is a skinny little thing and she seemed swamped and not supported at all and if dd had an accident I dread to think what would happen to dgd.

DD knows it is not suitable but her mil bought it for her, and she can't afford one herself so I want to buy one for her (I don't mind upsetting her mil as long as I know dgd is safe).

But which one? I want to do it asap (today if possible) and I don't have a great deal of cash atm.

Thanks Megglevache, it looks great but its a little to pricey for me atm, I only saw the other car seat yesterday and finding £109 at such short notice is a little difficult.

BTW I have been looking around the net and the other seat is for children ages four and up..

I'm not sure you're going to be able to find anything cheaper than that Squirrel - Group 1 (ie from 9 months or 15kg) seats are generally v expensive.

If you do have £100-ish, the Britax Evolva 123 Ultra did well in the Which safety tests and turns into a booster seat later so will last till dgd is 12, so is actually a good investment for the money. Reduced to £90 in Mothercare at the moment. The Priori Megg recommended is £89 there too.

hah, I've obviously been looking in the wrong places - Argos's 9kg-11yrs seat is only £35 .
Whatever you get make sure it has a harness - 14mo is too little to be restrained by an adult seatbelt even if the manufacturers claim it's ok.

Just had a look at that one MrsBager, I might get that one for now.

Thanks very much for your help.
