I thought this was the puschair for me but having seen it today in John Lewis in carrycot mode I now have my doubts. The carrycot doesn't look very secure (though I expect it must be) but also it seems so far away and close to the ground!
What do you think??
The chameleon's carrycot is fixed higher up the frame but it is too expensive for me.

thanks for that feedback! Am glad that you didn't find the carrycot too low - shame about the rough ground though. Am definitely considering Mountain Buggy.

Sorry, I'm on a roll - have measured the length of the chassis part of the frog folded, and it's longer than the mb urban folded (latter is 105cm). Plus the frog FILLS the boots of both our cars (Audi estate and Passat), whereas friend's mb urban fits in her peugeot 307 quite easily, and she can even slot it behind the driver's seat with back wheels removed.

Right, I'll stop now!

cupcakes · 20/09/2006 19:50

I was hoping that maybe we could put the pram on it's side behind the rear seats in the boot (and maybe tie it there with some bungees) rather than lying it flat and having it fill the boot. What do you think? Do you think this would be an option with the MB?

lol at the name of this pushchair system!

amazonianwoman · 20/09/2006 19:52

Final final point The bugaboo marketing photos are a tiny bit misleading where they show you the pushchair folded - the seat doesn't have the bumper bar on, all the wheels are removed, and, most importantly IMHO, the chassis is stored underneath the seat, whereas practically you need to store the chassis on top of the seat, as seat is removed 1st and stored in car 1st (unless of course you want to leave it on the grubby ground, which my DH always does and it annoys the hell out of me, as I then need to wrestle with the seat to get to the chassis) Rant over!

cupcakes · 20/09/2006 19:53

You're not impressed then?

OP posts:
amazonianwoman · 20/09/2006 19:55

Cupcakes - I guess you could bungee either pushchair on it's side depending on the depth of space you have in you car - MB is slightly wider so would be higher in your case.

The thought of bungee-ing TWO parts of my bugaboo together however would send me to an early grave...

Get the MB - wish I had 2yrs ago

amazonianwoman · 20/09/2006 20:00

No, I definitely don't hate the bugaboo, and I loved having a carrycot, love how light it is, loved having DD face me til 9mths (when she was nearly falling out trying to look forwards rather than at me!), love how easily it gets round shops, love how well the hood protects DD from the sun (I've had melanoma so v paranoid - this point alone almost makes me want to keep it). Buggyboard looks OK too (haven't used one though, 2nd baby due next year)

It's just that I hate shopping LOL and love going on the beach, woods etc

cupcakes · 20/09/2006 20:10

I do like shopping. And going to the woods...

due December 21st. Am going to baby warehouse place on 1st October to try everything. Is the Jane one a but pants then?

accessorizequeen · 21/09/2006 19:51

Ooh, you should come join the december antenatal thread then?! I'm due on the 16th :0
That sounds great, trying them all out in the one place, wish I could have done that.
Personally i found the powertrack a pita, impossible to fold, ds hated it as he was always slumped in it - I was worried about the same thing with the MB but it's much more enclosed than the jane is so more supportive. It was a doddle to push though, really nice. However, there have been lots of reports of problems with the powertrack (particularly the brake, I think) & complaints about the people that fix the problems.

amazonianwoman · 21/09/2006 20:21

Cupcakes - you may like shopping now, but wait til you have a child in tow Fine for the 1st 3mths then they just get sooo bored it's not worth the effort!
I do see some children who are happy to be pushed round the shops all day, are they drugged or something?! DD used to just whinge loudly, now she runs amok, or tries to, so I just go at night alone
AQ - we have a protect-a-bub (same as a rayshade), it's great.

accessorizequeen · 21/09/2006 20:25

Seems to depend on the child, doesn't it? DS puts up with visit to local shops but took him to town yesterday and he had a MASSIVE tantrum in the middle of debenhams, he made it sound like I was abusing him, only trying to get him to the toilet before he wet himself.

lummox · 21/09/2006 20:26

mini-highjack (although while I'm here I would say that I have been really happy with the bugaboo. baby number 2 is appearing in january and it is still practically looking as new - apart from the raisins).

accessoriesqueen - you kindly responded to my how to deal with a 15 month old in a car seat thread, and i said i would report back on the tinylove wonderwheel. it arrived fine, but wasn't much good for us unfortunately. kept ds occupied for about 15 mins first time, but now barely interests him at all. might well just be him, so may be worth a go, but afraid i can't recommend it. the portable dvd on the other hand....

accessorizequeen · 21/09/2006 21:26

Oh, sorry to hear that lummox! Thought it really looked like something that would keep children entertained for a while. I expect you'll get a good price on ebay as they're so hard to find! We're going to set off on 4-5 hr journey in the morning, and I kinda wish we had a portable dvd although ds now big enough to be able to look out the window etc & the kipper story cd etc will kill some time. I quite like kipper too

cupcakes · 22/09/2006 11:08

amazonianwoman - this is my third child!
My first two have been brought up to enjoy shopping (especially dd).

amazonianwoman · 22/09/2006 19:04

Oops sorry cupcakes! Any tips in that case from an expert on how to tame a toddler when shopping??!!

accessorizequeen · 25/09/2006 23:02

Lummox, just got back from trip. Can only say, wish we had a portable dvd player now (one will be bought before we go anywhere else!). sod my principles...

Loriycs · 24/06/2008 23:37

I too find the bugaboo awkward to steer and tip with the big wheels at the front. Spare big wheels can bought to make it a four wheel off roader which is probably better- saving the small swivel wheels for the shops.
I too disliked the carrycot. For a winter baby the flimsy fabric sides were not adequate enough, much better to have a hard bodied carrycot. The dip in the buggy seat is too deep for a baby and as a toddler my daughter tips forward, has too little seat depth and no calf support.Time for a decent umbrella fold. Its a head turner but not as good as led to beleive. My friend has a quinny (reversible)- similar style but looks like a more comfy seat for her baby.
