I'm thinking of buying a Phil & Teds for my imminent new arrival but I can't find one in any of the shops near me and had a few questions.

How was the coccoon bit for the baby? I'm worried he will quickly grow out of this and the doubles seat can't be used until 6 months, also does the coccoon bit only have one flat postion?

I've read some great reviews of this buggy and was wondering if it really is as good as it sounds?

The cocoon is quite big, so will fit for a while. The newborn position is quite tucked away tbh. The front seat does have a recline by opening the zip, but then there's not enough room for a toddler in the back. Basically, there's a grey few weeks when the baby doesn't need to be flat but isnt old enough for the 6 month upright. But if you can get over this, its worth it long term. ds2 went in the back at 5 months with a head hugger off another buggy. Bad mother
Where are you? I'm sure there's a mner with one that would let you have a fiddle.

if the back seat was padded with a sheepskin or something, would it be suitable from 4 mths or something?? or is it that they would need to be able to sit properly?

Hi, I have one and think its fab! You can slightly raise the newborn seat so it is at a slight angle, this worked well for my ds as after his feeds he was always a little sick from overfilling! Also i put him in the top from about 5 months and my 2 1/2 yr old dd went in the bottom double seat. I know this is officially wrong but they were both happy and she still sometimes hops in now at 3 1/2 when shes tired! I bought the cacoon but never used it as the weather was warm but I would definately use one in the winter.

It's lovely,lovely, lovely!

Had no problems with dd growing out of the flat bit, but she is tine & easily amised eg by the inside of a buggy... we propped her up in the seat at the back from about 5 1/2 months even though she wasn't sitting properly. Try e-bay - there are usually loads on there, and often not over-used.

Good luck with No2...

I am in South Manchester if you are anywhere near and want a play with mine. Best pushchair I have had - tried 6 others before settling on this one.

Mothercare are selling them so you might find one there to try

I have to say I've had issues with the flat vs upright position for my younger one. She's very long and outgrew the cocoon very quickly, so I took that out and padded out the base with sheepskin. But, as she's a long'un and would wriggle backwards, her head would end up squashed and vulnerable at the near-end. So she's had to go in the upright position before she's really physically ready....

I love mine to bits - it's also my 6th pushchair, but am so pleased that I made the investment. ds3 got to a point at about 4 months old where he got fed up lying down in the bottom not being able to see much when ds2 was on top of him, so I put him in the top with the older child below - you're not supposed to but it has never tipped up. At 5 months I started putting him upright in the bottom seat and he was fine. I still put him in the bottom if I go out at a nap time - he sleeps brilliantly as it's like a hammock. It's really really easy to push - I can manage fine with my 4 and 2 year olds in it and baby in a sling too.

The cons are:

bottom seat doesn't recline at all, so uncomfy for sleeping (well looks terrible, though mine sleep in it all curled up without complaining).

hardly any storage, so budget to buy a bag that clips on the handle (the paniers are a bit annoying to get on and off).

Doubles raincover is a bit short at the back, so if the child in the front keeps kicking it, the flap at the back comes forward and the little one gets wet
