Cat Food!!

What brand of cat food do you buy (obviously, only if you have a cat!).

I cannot seem to find one that my cat likes. He changes his mind from one week to another what particular flavour he likes and the quality is just awful. The jelly ones seem to be all jelly and the ones in gravy seem to be very runny.

Am giving up on ideas of what to feed him?

One question - why don't they make cat food in "bird" flavour or "hamster" flavour as they seem to be the one thing he does like eating - not very easy to explain to daughter why we can't have any more hamsters until the cat has passed on as he seems to like eating them. He ate the first one and then we bought another to replace the first (without the daughter knowing) - I think the cat couldn't believe it - he eats the first one and then we go and buy him another one to eat. Not any more!!

Any suggestions?

We had a guide dog puppy for 10 months and the cats hated it, even though it was smaller than them when she arrived! They learned to tolerate her, and I 'd do it again but DH says he doesn't want a dog again, she did so much damage and chewed all the breakfast room funiture, I'm surprised any of the chairs are still standing!

We've had scratching problems, too, Robin. I bought a scratching board, made of some sort of hairy rope. The pet shop recommended putting something on it to draw the cats to it and I'm currently using dried catnip, which I sprinkle on it. They go mad for the cat nip and have started using the board to scratch on. I believe you can buy an aerosol catnip spray but I haven't seen it locally.

To stop them using the furniture I stuck double sided sticky tape on their favourite places. They don't like their paws getting caught on the adhesive. It doesn't look very nice but then neither does scratched furniture. I'm also looking for a cure for one cat who scratches the carpet. It's got enough holes in it already and doesn't need any more!!

Poor cat! I guess the cold will go away but I think you'll need to just watch it doesn't go to his chest. One of our cats had pleurisy and pneumonia once. It was horrible for him and horrible for us to watch.
We also had a cat with hayfever who sneezed permanently - gross!

We give our cat pouches but she will only eat the Asda Tiger or Kitekat ranges in jelly. Doesn't like Go-cat. We also only give one pouch a day, half in morning and half in evening. She also has a bowl of whiskas cocktail (dry biscuity things with cheesy nuggets) every day. Anybody else hate the smell of cat food? Makes me want to retch. The worst was catching my ds when he was about 10 months old (he'd just started crawling) in the kitchen with his hand in the cat's food bowl and cat food smeared all round and in his mouth. I have was retching like crazy as I scooped it out. In fact I feel a bit ill now

Really interested in the wood pellets idea. Our cat is so lazy she never goes out so we have to have a litter tray, and as it's in our bathroom I really hate the smell. Will be going to the pet shop to check it out.

I'd recommend wood pellets too - nice piney smell and much lighter to dispose of. It's some time now since I had cats but I remember they both liked Arthur's catfood. They couldn't stand the semi-moist stuff in sachets. Would always come to the call of a shaken Go-Cat box as well!

As for unusual flavours, my parent's cat would have liked frog and also slow-worm flavour!!
