bebe confort iseos safe side

Has anyone used a bebe confort iseos safe side, and if so what did you think? We're thinking of getting one, after finding we've wasted £'s (can't remember how much!) on a britax which won't fit our car forward facing (we did check with manufacturors, and were told it would, grrr!) Anyhow, I like the fact it's (the bebe confort) meant to adjust to childs 'width' as DD is a dainty wee thing (hence finding at such a late stage that britax won't fit forwards!). Any tips apreciated, or hints on other good seats welcome too! Thanks

We have one, although ours is a couple of years old so it was before they started badging it "safeside" - but I think the width adjustment is still the same. It fits both our cars (a Saab and a Sea), and our previous one (Citroen) ok so I get the impression it's one which does fit a fairly wide selection of cars.

We've been very pleased with it - it did hold ds quite snuggly when we first moved him into it (he was long and thin, so needed it more for lenght/height than bulk), and we've gradually widened it so that 2 years later it's now at maximum width.

It does have quite high sides compared to some other seats, so that could be an issue if space is limited and/or your car doors are small, but that's the only think I could think of against it.

One feature I do really like (I I'm assuming they still have this?) is the little clips on the side to keep the harness out of the way when you're putting your child in - saves a lot of scrabbling around under bottoms/behind backs to retrieve straps which are being sat on!

And it's on special offer at Kiddicare at the moment if you're thinking of buying.

I have a tiny little girl and she loves her Iseos, it reclines too which is brilliant, it has soft strap attachments too which helps make it more comfy in the smaller sizes
I am really glad I bought this seat!
If you need it in the front it does obscure your view esp is rear facing

We've got one (about a year old, also not called "safeside" ). Its great. Was quite hard to get dd in and out when it was rearfacing but I think they all are. It reclines to near horizontal in our car (since the seat its on slopes back too) which is good when she's asleep. And you can just reach back and turn the dial thingy to recline it. Also tend to move the wings in when she falls asleep (to support her lolling head) and out again when she wakes up (so she can see around more). The seat buckle is great - no way will she work out how to undo that! Although it does take me two hands to undo it (its stiff). The best bit though, is that is comes in purple

MPILs have one of these for their car and it seems really good. It got good ratings in that recent safety test too. It is quite a big chair and sits pretty high in the back too so good if your little one likes looing outside. The only real problem I can think of with it is the harness fastener. It can be quite tricky to fasten at times. It is a case of if you do it first time great, of not it'll take ages.

why did i buy the small vrsion of this if this one is suitable from birth?

Levanna · 31/03/2004 22:53

Thanks so much! It looks as though it's just the thing for us . Incidentally, does anyone have the bebe confort number available? I've been trying to find one everywhere to double check it would fit our car. Thanks for the Kiddicare tip, I called their shop, and they say it will fit, but after the last fiasco, I'll triple check if I can!
Spod, I did read on one website that it's 'suitable' from birth, but 'reccomended' from older on.......

what car have you got?
We've got a peugeot 307 estate s/w thing that should make it safe for most peugeot makes and models

It's a Renault Megane ('01). But, TBH we might well need to change it at some point in the future....it's a great car, but could do with just a few extra inches all round to make it practical, bearing in mind I'm pregant again! Then, of course, I'll be looking for a car that will fit my lovely new Iseos !

Levanna, was it a Britax first class you bought? We were looking at one of those. We were hoping to go straight from a carrycot into one of these.

Levanna · 01/04/2004 22:47

Yes, it's a Britax first class.....last years so on a metal frame. Great seat, it just doesn't fit our car! DD used it from outgrowing her graco baby carrier/carseat, we were totally happy with it until we came to turn it around, and it wont fit forward facing, so it'll have to go!
