Real nappy users in Herts and Beds!

Councils in Herts have finally got their act together and you can claim 40 quid from them if you use any brand of washable nappies. Your baby must be under 2 at the mo and you need to submit a proof of purchase and a copy of your baby's birth certificate.

I phoned them today and they said if you don't have the original receipt then try to contact your supplier for a proof of purchase. As most nappy suppliers are WAHMs I imagine that should be pretty straighforward.

The WasteAware Hertfordshire partnership helpline number is: 08457 425000 or try wasteaware

There is also now a FREE nappy trial scheme for parents wanting to try out reusable nappies without forking out for samples - bargain!! That's run by "Get Real" - 07901 984155

It's Real Nappy Week btw

where in herts/beds are u? its nappichino (spelling bad i know) on friday i think.

unfortunatly they dont do the nappies in my dd size (35lb+) so we're sticking with out totsbots.

Hi misdee! I'm in Hemel. I turned up at a nappuchino today at our local sports centre, but the organisers of it didn't, which I thought was a bit annoying really. If they want to encourage parents to use washables then it might help if they made the effort themselves - grrrrrr. Might phone them to find out what happened

I've got a big 30lb+ 18 mth old ds in size 2 Tots - I'm really hoping they'll last until potty training - whenever that may be!!

i'm in hatfield, have just phoned waste aware, they are sending me the claim pack, and have contaced lollipop as well to try and get a receipt issued. so will hopefully be £40 better off.
dd2 is 18months and we have sort of started potty training. each evening she sits on the toddler seat on the loo and does a little wee.

KeepingMum · 30/03/2004 14:31

Thanks for the info bobsmum, I will try and dig out my receipt from a pile of rubbish - filing system. My TotsBots from ds (now nearly 3) are being used by dd (7 months). £40 wouldn't go a miss. PS What is nappicino?

katzguk · 30/03/2004 14:31

if the free pack is anything like the one i got when my mums council were running it then its well worth getting, we got three wraps, 8 nappys nappy liners and nappy wash all bambimo

misdee · 30/03/2004 14:32

meet with other real nappy users. sorry forgot that bit!

alibubbles · 30/03/2004 19:35

I want to put all my mindies in real nappies, but the mums woon't have it. I am going to invest in a whole load and have them in them while they are with me. I put out at least 50 nappies a week and I hate it. I won't get any rebate though. I went to the market in St Albans on Saturday where they had a stall, told her there are at leat 4000 childminders in Herts,, think of all those nappies, see what the council say about that!

misdee · 30/03/2004 20:23

why wont the mums have it? why dont u pop them in cloth soon after they arrive and them change them back to disposibles before they get picked up.

alibubbles · 30/03/2004 22:07

misdee, that's what I will do, but I am having to bear the cost of the cloth nappies, and get no incentive like the rebate parents can apply for, to do so. Only parents can apply as they have to provide a birth certificate etc. as proof. As a childminder, they are not my children, though I would prefer not to use disposibles, it is a cost consideration, - parents provide the nappies at the moment

misdee · 30/03/2004 22:24

thats a shame. how much would it really cost each parent to provide one days worth of cloth? I spent around £120 initially on my dd2 tots bots/wraps/liners when considering we were using two packs of nappies a week cost around 12 a week, the amount i have saved already is shocking.
