I'm wondering whether or not they are worth the initial investment? Do they work as well as liquid/powder?

yes although if something is really heavily soiled I tend to use powder
I love my washballs
FWIW they worked fabulous on cloth nappies as well. Thats how I started using them

MrsFogi, Im selling mine-brought some on family holiday to use in machines there, and then thought Id left them there and bought a new pack when I got home--3 days later mum brought over the 'lost' ecoballs she has packed in her suitcase! Ill sell the new ones - 7 or 8 uses max. Email me at lauramccreanor at hotmail dot com if you are interested!

We have them. I think they are okay, but I do also use liquid sometimes instead. Things like towels and bedsheets fine, but really did not cope with dh's clothes from 3 day hiking trip to Scotland (but then those did stand on their own...)

We have them, use them most of the time, but if something is really badly soiled use liquid. I am really pleased with them so far. There is no smell though, you have to get used to clothes not smelling of anything, when i do use liquid for a stained wash they smell really strong to me now.

gave up using ecoballs as they did not get our clothes clean (ok for sheets etc). use ecover powder now.
