Has anyone used food flasks for school lunches?

have a look atdescription

I would like to send some hot food with my dd occasionally. She is almost 4 and I'm not sure if she will be able to undo the lid by herself.

Does anyone have one of these flasks?

yes we have one from thermos but a different pattern. We used it for dd if we are out and about. Keeps food hot or cold. BTW dd is 15 months so it's mainly for us iykwim.

It's a screw top but quite chunky to hold iykwim. BTW can't dinner ladies or teachers help her to open it if need be..?? I know im my day help was around for kids who needed it.

Thanks shhhh. Yes I suppose she could ask for help in having it opened. Think I'll buy one, it will be useful esp. when it starts getting cold.

thanks for the code daisydog. However, I can only see a thermos flask on the site not a food flask.

Mala - what kinds of food are you thinking of putting in the flask?

I had one for dd, and would put hot food in around 7AM. By lunchtime (12 noon), the flask was at the stated limit for keeping food warm. By the time she opened it, put food on a plate and started eating not sure the food was room temperature at best - which could be fine for a 4 year old. You definitely won't have "hot" food with that sort of gap between packing/eating.

Early bird - I was thinking mainly pasta and noodles. I think things like soup would be too messy at her age. I would pack the food at 8am and lunch at her school is at 12.15, so hopefully the food should be fairly warm. I supposed room temperature would be fine too, just don't want it to be cold.

I recently started a thread about this (tried and failed to link - sorry), and I bought bigger Thermos ones for my DSs, and they're great. I used cheap Asda or Tesco ones last year and they were a waste of time. The Thermos ones keep food hot till lunchtime and beyond. I give my DSs leftover spag bol, curry and rice etc or soup. It's hot at lunchtime, and if there's any left over when they get home at 3.30, it's still warm then. I got the 750ml thermos food flasks off ebay. Lakeland and the camping shops have all discontinued them. They were about £15 each, but worth every penny. Thoroughly recommend them.

That's good to hear MrsMuddle-think I'll order one today. Even if dd doesn't use it now, I'm sure it will be useful as she gets older.
