Oh, was it nice when it arrived? No regrets?

hulababy · 05/09/2006 22:07

DD would like the Fisher Price digital camera, in pink.
She is also looking at the dance mat for the V Smile.

Not sure what else - probably more Barbie and polly pocket, craft stuff...

Twiglett · 05/09/2006 22:08

NO ITS SEPTEMBER COME BACK 1ST DECEMBER

Enid · 05/09/2006 22:08

well it wasnt the one in the pic and the dragon was broken (which I am taking issue with)

but the whole thing was in v good condition and looks fab with loads of bits and room sets so was a bit of a bargain. dd2 will quite possibly combust when she sees it

hula - how much is the camera? DD likes cameras, but so far have stuck to disposables....which can get expensive.

tamum · 05/09/2006 22:10

Well, it's good that she'll like it, bummer about the dragon though. I have to just drop the word Sylvanian into this thread I'm sorry.

hulababy · 05/09/2006 22:10

£60 . But hoping Katz gets her 20% off discount voucher prior to her DD1's birthday - adnd will order it at same time - so will then be £48

dinny · 05/09/2006 22:11

yes, Sylvanian rules in our house

tamum · 05/09/2006 22:12

I can see honestly that it would appeal, but it's worth bearing in mind that you can get perfectly good adult ones for that price, and they would last a lot longer in terms of not-being-seen-dead-with-that.

Earlybird · 05/09/2006 22:13

Oooh hula - that looks good.

tamum · 05/09/2006 22:13

Yay dinny

hulababy · 05/09/2006 22:15

But the adult ones have far more buttons and features and are far more easily broken. This can literally be thrown across a room (not thinking it will be!) an remain unbroken - they show you in ELC! And it has very simple features and very easy to use. She can use ours but it has to be set to point and click once type mode, and I have toremidnd her to wait for the flash. This one she was able to work in seconds in ELC the other day.

And the cheap ones for adults aren't pink

HyacinthB · 05/09/2006 22:18

Twiglett - speak up a bit!

tamum · 05/09/2006 22:18

No, I take your point, it sure is pink, but there are plenty around that are just as easy to use as disposable cameras. Mine have been able to use them pretty easily from quite a young age. I am just very aware that dd would have been mortified by a camera like that by the time she was 6, so although it's indestructible it still may not last in that sense.

hulababy · 05/09/2006 22:21

But it is pink

I know you can get other digital cameras, but she likes this. It's her Christmas present, so all being well...

jenkel · 05/09/2006 22:29

Be very wary of getting the Fisher Price camera, I havent read one good review of it, one said that even a very competent adult couldnt get a decent picture out of it and it has warnings about not to drop the camera!!!!

After reading the reviews we are going to get a normal but cheap digital camera.

jenkel · 05/09/2006 22:42

another review said the buttons are hard to operate.

2 pink cameras on the jessops site, one for £79 and the other £99, havent read any reviews yet so dont know what they are like.

hulababy · 06/09/2006 09:12

Hmmm...will have a look at those. Did try it out in ELC. Buttons were very easy for us and 4yo DD to use. However it was obviosuly impossible to tell picture quality as the digital display isn't big enough - would need to see them downloaded onto a computer for that. But will have a look.

hockeymum · 06/09/2006 10:13

hulababy, join ELC's big birthday club, put down an imaginary birthday for next month and get sent a 20% off voucher. You get an email link to it and can print it off for use in store. Actually you can print off as many as you like - fantastic - I never spend full price in ELC anymore.

Or use code BIG033 typed onto their website for 20% off.

Hope that helps

Enid · 06/09/2006 10:18

all digital cameras for kids supposed to be crap (wobbly out of focus pics)

honestly I always say this but get a polaroid instead, kids love them and you can get one that makes stickers

bubblerock · 06/09/2006 17:17

This is a good price, Playmobil Fairytale Palace, usually £109 + p&p but just £67.73 delivered (go through Quidco for 5% cashback too) Go through THIS link which gives you the extra 15% off anything on the site.

hovely · 07/09/2006 20:30

that is a heck of a lot of money for one present..or am I out of touch?

hovely · 07/09/2006 20:32

it is lovely though
didn't mean to sound as tho' I was criticising, (and I have been poring obsessively over rocking horses)
I just can't get a fix on what is a reasonable amount to spend on them
