Best tandem buggy for a 2 yr age gap?

I need a tandem as a twin won't fit in my front door
DS will be 2 when the next one arrives
We walk a lot in London and I don't think a buggy board will work for us to start with

Options seem to be

  • Phil & Teds
  • Jane Powertwin
  • MarcoSky
  • Mothercare ones

Any feedback/views gratefully received??

Oh, in rainy weather I used a Raincape for ds that was sitting on top, and that worked really well for us, btw!
The Jane does look brill, too...but it's always a double Buggy isn't it...whereas mine can be made into a single one. Which is what I liked about mine!

If I need to take one out on their own I have a lightweight stroller too

nothing much to add really im afraid...

as others have said - i liked P&T (had one) but found the one on 'lower' deck used to put hands on wheels...

tried a pal's Jane powertwin and didnt like how heavy/expensive it was (and ds2 was small and sleepy in front seat and looked v uncomfy)

mothercare Hoxton (have it) too heavy, hard to push. would give it away but wouldnt sell for that reason (im too concientious!)

cosatto duo - too heavy/bulky, but ok all round

um...

marco sky - v basic, a pain to push, but v compact

abc buggy - have the twin with one seat up top. v v good quality (like mountain buggy) and sooo many good features, which i expect the single w toddler seat has too. would recommend.pretty expensive tho

MatNanPlus recommended one ; a sitnstand... looks verrrry interesting. theres a link to it on the pramaholics thread

3andnomore - do you have any issues with seeing where you are going??

3andnomore · 16/09/2006 10:16

NG,
well, I am 5'6 and have no probs whatsoever to see over it
I was really lucky and got mine (an older model) from a german website that was closing down for general business so, got it for a lot less

couple of points re p&t: we put our youngest in the front from 4 months which was so much better for her view- wise. my older dd used the back seat when she got tired. also, you can get mudguards, i think, to stop them touching wheels.

3andnomore · 17/09/2006 09:16

noonar....that is a bit of a frightening thought that the child could actually reach the backwheels...could they not then get their fingers caught and ripped off?
Got to say, did look originally into tthe Phil&Ted Explorer at the time, and then came across the Adventure Buggy, well...realsied that it is actually teh same people that amke them, just under different company names, so, ask them which they feel is the better one, and I was told that the Adventure Buggy was the better one...and I have to say, I really didn't liek teh low Toddlersulky seat anyway...there have been incidents with dogs attacking the child and then there is the issue that it is level with all the carfumes....!

yes, it is a design fault! that's why we only use the back for older dd, as a sort of alternative to a buggy board. she still hops in from time to time now, aged 4, on long country walks etc
