Follow on from IKEA sofas - does anyone have an IKEA sofa bed?

Didn't want to hijack the other thread completely...
If you have one, how has the mattress held up? The kind we were thinking of getting is the sort where you have to pull the metal mechanism up and out of the sofa after you remove the cushions, IYSWIM. I am a bit worried about it though because the mattress seems quite thin and looks like it might be uncomfortable.
Any experience of this?

We bought an ikea sofa bed from ikea 8 years ago - the lycksele so not the sort you are talking about but it did have a thin mattress. We used it for 6.5 years until the 3rd bedroom-come-study was requisitioned for use as a nursery. We then gave it to my brother who still uses it. People actually comment on how comfortable it is although I always found it a bit hard.

We are (hopefully) about to move and will have room for it again but will probably buy a new one (but will get the same one again as they are really neat)mainly because think it might be a bit unfair to demand it back !

We've got one from ikea - think it's the lycksele and it has been an excellent spare bed for about 5 years. i find it very comfy and no one else has complained!

We've got one like that which is 5years old. Used as a guest bed and was a main sofa for 4 years. Similar to Ektorp iirc. Mattress(3 ins thick max) still as good as new and surprisingly comfortable as the base is a metal one. mechanism slides forward from base then folds out and runs smoothly.

Thanks, that all sounds rather encouraging. Anyone with experience of the 'Karlanda'?
