Ahh but are they likely to make 8 yr old Dd1 happy ?? If they are plain they just won't cut it.

I sounded so like my dad yesterday, stood there stating that school was not a fshion parade it was a place you go to lear

tesco disney princess
and matching accessories
£2.99 iirc

SKYTVADICT · 30/08/2006 10:24

My two are not allowed them at their school - a brill rule if you ask me - just one less thing to worry about

nailpolish · 30/08/2006 10:25

actually, tesco had some really cool stationary, all ages, but i just focused on the disney princess

nutcracker · 30/08/2006 10:26

Oh plain is definatly good enough for me too, i have a plain red and a plain purple I think.

Dd's face though is just hilarious when you show her something she wouldn't be seen dead with and she's only 8.

I even suggested buying a plain one and decorating it and she said "omg no, i'll look like a right poor person"

When shall I break it to her that she is a poor person LOL

Nutty

I know money is tight for you atm, but I think it is great that the children are unaware, well done.

nutcracker · 30/08/2006 10:28

Haven't tried Tesco yet, will keep them in mind if tommorow trip fails to find anything. I have said £3 no more. Am already forking out £10 each for bags.

I always had one for a fiver off the market.

Aww thanks LGJ

They are all very good at understanding if I set a limit for something and don't tend to moan about it (much).

I am not buying their school stuff actually, their dad is, so i could say the skys the limit lol.

Now I am having v good memories of going to WHSmiths at the end of the summer hols with my money and spending ages getting just the right stuff

case
red pen
blue pen
black pen
pencil
rubber
sharpener
protractor (can't remember what the hell to do with these however)
compass thing (with sharp point and twisty bit)

memories la la la la la la la laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

nailpolish · 30/08/2006 10:43

you forgot the shatterproof ruler OO, and tippex (which was banned but great for writing your name on stuff)

nutcracker · 30/08/2006 10:44

LOL OO

I'm actually looking forward to buying their stuff, cos they get so much pleasure out of owning a new pencil, sharpener etc etc

Still have to get their shoes though too and I sense an argument with dd1 already.

We raided tescos and got all sorts of silly stationary things, persueded them to use last years pencil cases .

I remember the excitment of getting new pencils for school too .
