Grobags - Are they any good for babies that are standing in cot?

I have never used grobags with my first and my 8 month old is pulling himself up now and his covers are all over the place. Is it ok to use a Grobag for him and is he going to trip if I suddenly put him in one?

I put my dd in a grobag from about 10 months and stopped at around 18 months (when she grew out of the bag). It never hampered her from moving around/standing up, etc. It just meant she didnt get cold too.

oh thats good, just don't want him to trip, he already bangs his head on cot all the time!

Both mine have worn them from birth and they are fantastic. Ds never even tried to stand up in his. Dd (1) can and does - they soon get the hang of it but you may find it actually stops him for a while. It will definitely stop him getting cold!

My dd (1 next week) is surprisingly mobile in her grobag, but it does keep her warm.

Put my dd in grobag from 13 mnths, when she began getting cold due to kicking off her covers.

She's 2.2 now, still in her bag in her cot & No she has never ahd an awful accident from falling over in it. Grobags are a God send for wriggly babies

I can send you one to try and keep if you want to CAT me, it would be foc except for p&p (ds has outgrown it)

Just moved 22 month old DS to a duvet 3 weeks ago - thinking about moving him back! Grobags are great but weaning them off?- slightly more trouble. We're trying because we want to move DS to a 'big bed' soon but I'm thinking it might be best to go back to the grobag until his language develoment has come on a bit. Not trying to put you off, I'm certain they get a better nights sleep in them, but think about when you want to make the bed switch, how old will he be, and what you'll do then etc. hth.

Well I go against everyone so far as I am just about to take ds out of his grobags. He has been sleeping in them pretty much since birth but now he is standing up all the time I am taking him out of them as he seems to pull himself over in them all the time causing some really nasty bumps on the head.

DS is nearly 10 months.

DS (nearly 15mo) stands up in the cot while wearing his grobag, without a problem. In fact i think it might be useful in preventing him from actually climbing out.

wanderingstar · 28/08/2006 23:12

I've had ds3 (2.5) in a grobag pretty much from birth; he's never had a bump or fall. I'd try now rather than leaving it for a month or 2.

My problem now is how to wean him off them as he's soooo cosy...sleeps 12 hours solid...but is outgrowing them.

mine 2 year old still wears his grobag and stands up and it causes do problems. he would get cold in the night if didn't have it as kicks off his covers straight away. u shouldn't have a prob

I don't think the grobag will stop your LO getting out of the cot, Snowleopard. I put DD2 in a bed at 15 months 'cos she was always vaulting out of it in her grobag and I had a nasty feeling that one day she'd land on her head. She carried on sleeping in the grobag until she was 2 though, and we often appreciated the warning that she was up when we heard her jumping down the hall to our room in it.
