Calling all pushchair addicts - HELP!!!!

I am going around in circles here. If I list what I want from a pushchair will someone please point me in the right direction?

I want essentially a travel system, with everything included for less than £450 (although I can get a good discount on most models so if it comes up more than that it is still worth a mention). I'm not too bothered if there is a carrycot or not, or any type of base for the car seat, but definately want the buggy, carseat, any rain covers, footmuffs, shopping baskets, and hopefully the changing bag but that wouldn't be a deal breaker!

I have been looking at the Jane Nomad with the Matrix carseat, but surprise surprise, the Matrix doesn't fit in our Picasso, I love the look of the Mutsy (not sure which model ) with the big wheels and chunky frame, but think it may be a bit too big overall, and I am very keen on the Quinny Buzz, but have just read some pretty damaging reviews.

Mostly the buggy will be used for the very short school run on a daily bases, I do use the bus quite a bit so it needs to be fairly lightweight and small, but I won't need to actually fold it down to get on the bus so it doesn't need to be an umbrella fold or one handed jobby, we have a massive boot space so it doesn't have to fold down into nothing either.

Come on MNers, show me what your made of and find me the system of my dreams please

Have you looked at the Britax ones?

NatalieJane · 27/08/2006 17:55

I have heard that although the Britax carseats are great, the buggy's aren't great quality, I don't want to be spending another couple of hundred quid in a years time or whatever. Also, I find that a lot of the Britax ones look a bit old fashioned, no offence to anyone who has/likes them, just a bit erm... cumbersome!

Does it have to be a travel system?

fuzzywuzzy · 27/08/2006 18:05

How about the Silver cross 3D pram/puschair system?? I've not used it but it looks good, lightweight and compact and comes with a infant carrier option...

NatalieJane · 27/08/2006 18:08

Yes would really prefer it to be a travel system.

We looked at the 3D today, it looks like a nice pushchair, (as in quality, suitable for what we want) but not overly keen on the shape, again looks a little bit too 'classic', although it is a still a serious contender!

Bebeconfort loola
Chicco CT
Graco (also does several travel systems).

NatalieJane · 27/08/2006 18:12

The steering is what keeps pulling me back to the Quinny Buzz, I can push and turn it one handed when I need to (so I can hold DS's hand across the road, opening doors etc.) but I do quite a bit of shopping in town and there is just no where to put bags, even if you buy the shopping basket thing, and it is so light at the front you can't put clips on the handle bar for bags, it would just tip over.

See what I mean about going round in circles?!!

We had a Graco for DS and it was just so clumsy and flimsy, I have sworn not to even look at them this time, the chicco one doesn't look much different to the Graco we had so that has put me off a bit, but I suppose I should keep more of an open mind

The Loola I love, but it is quite hefty and wide, so no where near as easy to get in and out of shops etc.

Sorry I know it sounds like I am dismissing everything being put forward, I'm not trying to be so picky!

Neonato 3 in 1 MultiSport. But it's expensive.

TheBlonde · 27/08/2006 18:32

What about the Firstwheels - City Elite Pushchair
It's like the bugaboo but cheaper and you can attach a car seat

NatalieJane · 27/08/2006 18:44

I don't like the Bugaboo look at all, but will have a look at both of them - thanks.

How does anyone make the choice between them all??

mamas& papas pramette? or pilko? can get car seat on, its a buggy, loads of space for shoppong etc, but is 2 handles.

NatalieJane · 27/08/2006 18:54

Don't mind the two handles. The Pramette is in the same group as the 3D, it ticks all the boxes for me, except on the looks front, I'm not ruling either of them out though!

Micralite? I think it takes a car seat. Then you could choose a good Britax car seat.

NatalieJane · 27/08/2006 18:55

Should say, I know the two handles makes it harder to push one handed, but would put up with that for the added bonus of being able to hang bags off them!!

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 27/08/2006 18:57

Is the Microlite the one with the front wheels wider than the back ones?

Gem13 · 27/08/2006 20:04

Yes. You can get a carrycot for it too. Pushes single handedly and folds single handedly too. Has handles you can hang shopping from.

NatalieJane · 28/08/2006 07:43

Thanks everyone who tried to help, we caved and ordered a Quinny Buzz, with the carseat and carrycot last night. We saw it (again!!) yesterday in a shop and the woman priced it all up for us, then said they didn't have the colour we wanted in stock, but if they'd have had the red one we would have bought it there and then, so we stopped umming and arrhing and just put best foot forward!

I might be back in a few months asking if anyone wants to buy it!! Thanks again
