my 3.5 yr old loves his. even though he only has one book/cartridge and should be bored stiff of it by now... he doesn't seem to be and he has had it for about 9 months now.

My daughter got the little table thing for her 1st birthday and loves it.

Gather it is this one
Looks a fun way of introducing books and words if they aren't already into books.

went to look at it in ELC today and was really disapointed it was just a paper book atached on to a base that made sounds wasn't impressed at all.

Both my dd1 (4) and ds (2) play with dd1's leap-pad (the older kids one) all the time! THey love it. It does just look like a paper book on a plastic base but there is so much that can be done with it as the book has lots of activities and games as well as just reading the story to them. THe one for older children seems to have several levels and lasts for several years. Dd1 got it for Christmas from her Granny (who is a nursery teacher and highly recommended it, first I'd heard of it) and it was far and away the best CHristmas present she got - and ds plays with it more than most of his presents too!
