My dd will be 3 in a few months and I was thinking of getting her one of those ready beds to stay with granparents etc etc.
What do people think of them. Have seen some lovely ones with newcron(think that was the name of the site). Has anyone oredered from them before??

My dd used hers twice - she moves a lot in her sleep and I used to find the bed on top of her! Now have this and its great - we even take it camping!

i have a ready back for emergencies like stays at parkwood house when family room isnt available. dd2 slept in it last time (she was 3) and when she rolled over in the sleeping bag the thing tipped over as she was on the edge of it.

Haven't ordered from them before, but have had two ready beds and they were fab. DD1 and DD2 both loved sleeping in them, and never really had any problems with them. I did always try to put the beds against a wall as they have ended up on the floor with the bed on top of them! Really, really handy when travelling though.

We have used a my first ready bed for ds [2.10yrs] for camping and he loves it. We havent had the tipping accidents but might be due to the first ready bed having sides on it???

No used Newcron but let me know what they are like as they always seem to have good bargains.

NotQuiteCockney · 16/08/2006 13:12

Oh, we bought one of these for DS1 as am on holiday and short of appropriate beds. It's a Thomas one, and he's very happy with it. He's nearly 5 though, and tall, so it won't work for long, I don't think.

fez · 16/08/2006 14:09

we have this and we have used it for camping and for visiting family and friends. ds1 is 4 and loves it.

I have a readybed for dd and its ok, she doesn't like the zip up bit though because it gets a bit hot, when she sleeps under a duvet she sticks her legs out which she cant do with this.

Oh yes and a little boy I know was doing the zip up of his and erm had to be cut out of it at A & E with his whatsit sticking through the zip! OUCH!

DS has one for when a friend comes on sleepovers.

gscrym · 16/08/2006 14:25

This is the one we had from Argos Readybed . DS loves it. DH manages to blow it up without a pump. We've taken it away with us a few times and DS sleeps in it no problem. He had it from 3.

Fimbo · 16/08/2006 14:28

My ds has the Thomas one and loves it. We got it from Boots last Christmas in the sale for £15.00. The smaller ones don't have zips.

My dd has a Groovy Chick one. Do Newcron sell on Ebay (sorry not checked link) because I think that is who I bought hers from.

Fimbo · 16/08/2006 14:29

The Thomas readybed is also available from Tesco's

Both of ours have ReadyBeds and love them. They do tend to gradually ooze out of the bed in the first part of the night, but, as we always go in to kiss them again before we go to sleep ourselves, we just slide them back into the beds. Oddly enough, they don't tend to ooze out of the bed during the rest of the night.

We got our two plain adult-size RBs, as we didn't see the point in getting small ones that would just have to be replaced. Besides, today they may love Thomas, or Princesses, but in 2-3 years' time they may consider T or P too babyish - even if they still fitted the RBs.

IIRC we got them from Argos and come with a carrysack and a battery-operated pump.

thanks for all these replies, glad to see that others think they are a good idea

Never had any tippping problems. Perhaps the adult size has a more generous sleeping bag, so if they come off the mattress it's not tight and doesn't pull over on to them.

Seona1973 · 16/08/2006 20:30

If you dont mind a plain one (rather than a character one) then Woolies have a ready bed selling for £15 at the moment. I saw it in there today and they have it online too:

Single Ready Bed

My ds 3 1/2 loves his animal print one, it was bought from Newcron who are cheaper than most sources and very prompt delivery so I would recommend
