ISOFIX booster seats

Has anybody got one that they'd recommend?

Are there any reports rating the safety of the various models? The only one I can find so far is: Jane Indy Plus F1 Car Seat.

Thanks

I've got two Indy Plus - they're quite good - at least they don't tumble out every time you lift the child out of the car (or am I the only one who does this?).
They're apparently no better than the Priori though, and I've managed to break the styrofoam 'wings' on the side by the door by bumping against them when lifting the children into the seat.

Thanks geekgrrl. Bit worrying about the 'wings' breaking though. We bash the ones in DS1's current seat (Britax Duo Isofix) every time we get him out, but luckily they are flexible, and just slot back into place.

They tested it against regular boosters in Which ? recently but felt it was no better as they were not also anchored at the top iirc.

I was just reading on the AA website, that at some point in the future they want to make ISOFIX a three point system to secure the top as well. It was originally going to be a four point system.

I've never used a booster seat before, so are there any points to look out for? DS will be about 2.5-3 years when he moves up to one (as DS2 will need his seat then!)

Make sure he is heavy enough - the better ones are fom 15kg minimum (which he may not be by 3 , dd isn't yet at 5!) and many which use the adult seatbelt earlier, from 9 or 10 1/2kg do poorly safety wise. Also make sure it has an adjustable height headrest and seatbelt guide so that it rests across the shoulder.

The maxi cosi rodi , britax highliner and britax evolva were all found to be alot safer than the Jane Indy plus isofix in the which independant crash tests...

they even had a section of the article explaining that is a stage 2 car seat ISOFIX has no real safety advantage and that those non Isofix seats offered more protection in a crash

He is heavy enough - 15.2kg yesterday!

NannyL - are you saying that correctly fitted non-isofix seats are safer than correctly fitted isofix seats? I think the point about Isofix seats is that they are more likely to be correctly fitted, and therefore safer than an incorrectly fitted otherwise safer seat. Might be wrong though? Stage 2 - that's the 9m-4yrs seat?

Interesting point about the safety of the booster seats though. Maybe not worth spending the extra then for a booster seat. Are they easier to fit than stage 2 seats?

Do you know when the Which report came out? Our community centre has them all, but I'd have to trawl though millions to find it otherwise!
