we recently moved to a house with quite a generous garden and would like to put in a play area for los. i have ds3.5y who particularly likes climbing and jumping off stuff, also says he'd like a little house; and dd6m who hasn't expressed a preference!
we've seen a fab set at john lewis which is a house about 2 foot off the floor, with a ladder on one side, a climbing run on one and a slide on another. it's a make that you can add other pieces to, so if dd decides she'd like a swing or whatever we could add that later.
however- it's just over £1,000. is this reasonable? or should i look elsewhere, in which case where?
also what have you bought that your los got lots of use out of; and what have they never looked at since the day it was bought??

StinkyPete

I was pointed the way of TP

by other kind MN folk. and have invested in TP stuff for my garden. What is great about it is that it is modular, so we have got dd the climbing frame, twizzler and platforms for her birthday and hope that for christmas and other birthdays people will add things like climbing nets, jungle runs and firemans poles etc.

Service is excellent, we're really happy with ours.

thanks hockeymum, that's actually the same make john lewis stocks - will compare prices tho...

anyone else? what do your los make the most of, what have you wasted your money on???

We've just bought the TP912 challenger frame on here the price includes delivery which was very quick. It is excellent as you can build it small for toddlers but there is an extension kit for raising it when they are bigger. You can also buy a lot of accessories slide, firemans pole, scramble net etc.

TP again I'm afraid. About 5 of my friends have varying combinations of TP frame stuff and the children ranging in age from 2 to 10 absolutely love it and get loads of value from it.

Special favourites seem to be the two person swinging thingy, the long slide and the tent thing that sits on a platform. Sorry I can't be more specific, we haven't splashed out yet - too many friends with lovely garden stuff for ds to play on!!! Cheapskate I know.

The other thing which has had a spate of popularity in this area is trampolines (TP again, 10ft and 12 ft varieties). The novelty of them seems neverending so far (but they only arrived at the beginning of the summer so may not be so popular next year). Very expensive though when you add in the safety net (about £500). Again, I have not splashed out, garden not big enough for one of them.
