nightime nappies

dd is generally a really good sleeper but recently she has started to wake up with a very wet nappy .... which i then change and then she's awake and rather cross for being awake!!! (very vocal) it has occurred to us that it could be teething (the answer to all baby ailments i fear!) as she has a little one making an appearence but the wet nappy doesn't help and i think this only addds to all the discomfort and confusion!

so to rule out the wet nappy i would like to ask you all whcih nappies do you use...do any of you use a special nightime nappy whcih is ultra absorbant etc... i have read the mumsnet reviews but would still like to hear what you all reccomend!

( we use Moltex nappies whcih i have no complaints about but would like to find a more absorbant nappy for nighttime... she usually sleeps from 8pm to 6:30 am!)

Thanks!

You don't say how old your dd is, but my son had this problem at the age of 2. I solved the problem to an extent by using a disposable booster pad (called Weenies I think, from a real nappy stockist [may be biodegradable too], Boots also do their own brand which are cheaper) inside the night-time nappy. If it's the pure 'bulk' of a wet nappy that's disturbing her it won't help I don't think, but if leaking's the problem it will do the trick.

dd is 8 months old, not on the bottle (although i frequently feel i should be!), drinking water with food and has a boob feed before going to bed!

thanks

You might find, if she's only 8 months, that just wearing the next size up of nappy for night time (when it's secured by a sleepsuit anyway) will do the trick. Don't know if the biodegradable ones are available in such a wide range of sizes as Pampers for instance.

bea, we had real problems with this. I had been using the Nature Boy/Girl nappies, which are still fine during the day. I tried Tot Bots with a booster and a fleece liner at night but ds was still wetting through. In the end had to revert to the environmentally unfriendly disposables. After testing all the 'brands' and high street versions, I found that the Tesco Size 6 (Extra Large), the size up from Junior work best.

Oh my goodness Bea, I've just read that your second post - your dd would be swamped in Size 6's!

Seems my post y'day didn't make it on for some reason.
My advise was for the Tescos ultra range.
My ds has always had an extremely wet nappy after his 12hr sleep. Have yet to find a washable nappy that keeps him dry enough at night (they are what we use day time- Kooshies, Totbots and motherease- fleece liners and boosters etc). Found Moltex just not absorbant enough for night-time. Tried Huggies but they tended to spill out their innards-crystal like stuff from the inner core-yuk! The Tescos ultra keep it all in despite being v v HEAVY with pee in the morning. Also found that PJS caused the nappy to roll down at the front, causing leakage, as ds sleeps on his tummy. Sleepsuits and poppered bodyvest are much better night time wear for him it seems.
Hope this works this time!

I'd second that too - Tescos Ultra are great for overnight use. Couldn't get them the other day in a size 6 (for my near-3 year old) so bought Pampers size 6. Not a good move - the gel separates into lumps and wee leaks through the gaps!
