Help! Wedding clothes for boys aged 2 and 5 without breaking the bank!

We have been invited to a wedding reception at a hotel and we are taking our two boys. They will be with us for some of the evening before going to bed at the hotel. They have NO formal clothes at all! I need to buy them something appropriate without costing me a fortune as the hotel room, present etc are all adding up! Where do I go?

As they're quite little I'm sure it doesn't have to be full suits... nice trousers and shirts would be lovely - maybe linen trousers and white or subtley striped shirts? You can get these at M&S, Gap, and cheaper versions at H&M.

Also (although I usually think this is a bit naff!) if they were dressed alike they'd look smarter, even if the clothes themselves weren't especially smart IYSWIM.

I wasn't sure really how dressed up they need to be. My two year old does have linen trousers so that cuts down on costs. I am sure I could find some for my 5 year old. Then maybe matching tops.

Thanks

You know what, unless they are going to get a major kick out of getting really dressed up, I would just put them in something clean, plain and comfortable. They are only wee, they are going to be in an adult environment, it may be hot, they may be over-excited, they are likely to be eating messy food.

Try BHS, they have a major sale at the moment and they do very smart little boys clothes.

Woolies often do nice dressy clothes for LOs. Doubt the quality would be as high as, say, Gap, but for a one-off would probalby be more affordable.

have you tried the next sale ?

IlanaK, I had exactly the same problem with my two boys (8 and 5) as it is my newphews barmitzvah in three weeks. My boys would never wear "smart" clothes again and it would be a total waste of money. Have gone for matching short sleeved shirts with beige trousers for synagogue on saturday (matching outfits) and same trousers in navy for the party on Sunday with a non-matching shirts (their choice). I got the trousers in M&S. £9 for bigger size and £8 for smaller. They will be absolutely fine for the winter to wear with t-shirts.

I do agree with snowleapord re the matching outfits - we usually have them in one matching outfit on holiday for a smart restaurant. I have to say both boys love dressing the same too - but probably because it is only a very occasional thing.

I have to admit to the occasional matching outfit for my boys too, though not many. I looked in both their wardrobes today and found a couple of nice beige trousers for both of them. SO what I need now is two matching nice tops. It will be October for the wedding, so I think longsleeved. And I agree with matching tops. Shouldn't be too hard to find in their sizes. Actually, we are going on holiday the week before the wedding. Perhaps if I opt for short sleeves, we can use them there as well.

Verbaudet do some lovely smart outfits for boys and girls - some expensive but most quite reasonable. Also they're doing various promotional discounts ie 20% off at the mo.

Went in to bhs today nd they have loads of nice stuff for boys.
