Trailer/ towbar for my bike?

Im looking into getting something for my dd who has grown out of her seat. Thing is, the nearest cycle path is a mile away, down a very very busy road, with v narrow footpaths (can just about keep all wheels of the pram on it in places! And yes, I know I shouldnt cycle on the footpaths)

Im worried that the only two options I can find (trailer and towbar) might not be suitable. I love the idea of the trailer, as it seems so comfy for her, and one that is a jogger too would be handy. The tow bar on the other hand, dosent sound as stable, and im not sure it would be as safe on a busy road!

Please help!

Did see a pashley trike with 2 child seats, which looks very cool, but cant imagine trying to get one onto a train, like I could with the trailer or tow-bar that detatches!

Arrgghh!

How old is your dd? I have know children who could ride on a trailer bike from 3, but partly depends how far you're going, too. A good quality trailer bike shouldn't wobble too much.

shes 3.5 flack. And did I mention she gets off her bike (with stabilisers) when there is the slightest downward hill and Im walking beside her? Once I tried to encourage her on and she screamed in a way that made me think she had hurt herself! Im serious - you know the way the keb goes down where there is a driveway? that kinda slope would have her jumping off!

But is she used to going down hills on the seat behind you? I think she might be okay on a trailer bike if she knew you were still in charge.

You could always walk on the pavement downhills, too, to start with.

i hope so! have you used either of these?

I've used a towbar, my husband had to work to make sure it was on REALLY TIGHT. But it seemd not too wobbly once he perfected it. We went off-road with it. I think a trailer bike is a bit better (more stable), and a child-back tandem is even better than a trailer bike. Some trailer-bikes are much better than others, you get what you pay for.

You could look for these things on Ebay.

Thing is, Im in Northern Ireland and there isnt must being sold here, and when people state UK delivery charge is £xxx they then add on more (usually double to triple) cause Im not in mainland

Thanks for your advice though
