hello, DS (5 months)has after much encuoragement learnt that daytime naps aren't such a bad thing... the evening having been a breeze, is now more tricky. I was thinking of buying a Tomy Lullabye Dream show thingy... anyone used one and think they are a good buy?? Also does the night light go off automatically as DS seems to prefer it to be darkish ie. realizes then that it's time to sleep and don't want a product that has a light that stays on... thanks in advance for any help

I bought a "beam-a-dream" (or what ever it is called) 5 years ago and it has kept dd and now ds falling of to sleep happily ever since.

Dd had A winnie the pooh light show that could be set to come on if she cried. It played a tune and lights revolved on the ceiling. She loved it. It went off automatically after 3 plays of the tune iirc. Definitely a good buy.

DD1 3 and DD2 2 both still use their light show lights. They both like having that bit of light to watch and fall asleep to before it stops and the light goes out.
Well worth buying.

hey everyone, thank you!! speedy responses too... really helpful as i had a hunch it might be good but then you never know... I shall go for a Pooh Bear one I think as that one seems a popular choice. Bedtime seems so upsetting at the moment and there's got to be ways to make it less trauma-filled

both my two used these for yrs!yes light goes off.

One word of warning with the Pooh Bear one though, there are two settings on the back. The first makes it come on when your child cries and it goes off after three or so plays. The second comes on when your child cries and keeps going and going and going and going. . . . .

DD loved our lightshow...highly recommended!

dd has the winnie the poo on and it always works at helping her to sleep.

Now she is older (14 months) she loves one she was bought as a baby as she can turn it on and off herself..! Quite cute.. ( Can't remember the make but think it's from toysrus..it's a worm and play several tunes and images go over the "book" pages the worm is holding..)

The fisher price ocean wonders aquarium was v.good for our ds (ono about £15 from Argos I think). Fish floating, nice music, fading lights effect etc & you could control volume. And as he got older, he could operate some bits himself at the front which he liked. Did seem a little loud (even at lowest setting) at times but still put him to sleep. We only took it off when he was near 1.

We went and bought the pooh bear one yesterday and it is lovely but we have had to sellotape over the speaker as it is very loud.

daystroller · 07/08/2006 12:54

ha pelvicfloornomore - what a great name!! I put up the pooh bear one today and you are right, it's really loud. The sellotape tip sounds a good one...
DS seemed to quite like it, but it did go on for a bit and he started crying...perhaps thinking when will it ever end - so thanks Honormatopoeia, 2 button thingy noted
