My DD will be 1 in March and I'm just having a think about a gift and decided I'd quite like to get her a sty of nice musical instruments.

My DS had a set from ELC but tbh it wasn't up to much and now costs £18 which just doesn't seem worth it fir what it was.

Saucepan and wooden spoon!

Nothing decent will be able to withstand a 1yo. Buy a variety of ELC stuff and see what she is naturally drawn to eg banging, shaking etc. then in due course you can "upgrade" (I bought a just 3 yo a relatively decent harmonica for Xmas as she loves blowing things to make a noise )

But honestly, she is only 1, bit early to spot a budding Menuhin or Glennie!

:o its just for the sake if getting her a birthday present.

Can't think what to get and was at competetive mum toddler group yesterday and realised that I appear to be the odd one out not yhrowing a party (with 40 toddlers, a bouncy castle, face painter and a baby disco Hmm so thought three least I could do is get her a nice present!

Tambourine or a shaker.

My dd was 1 this month, she got some maracas and bells, she loves them but they might accidentally get thrown in the bin soon..

FamiliesShareGerms · 14/01/2014 09:02

Something like these?

I got my DD a xylophone when she was about that age. She loved it. Something like this.

It was the same make, anyway, though different colours. And I'd recommend Janod as it was properly in tune and therefore much less awful to listen to than the cheaper and totally out of tune one we had previously.
