Vertbaudt Sizing

firstmum45 · 25/07/2006 14:07

Hi there can anyone give mean idea as to sizing and quality of childrens clothing from Vertbaudt?

I ask because my is small for her age (18 months) and also because as with womens clothing sizes do vary from store to store. Example my daughter can wear 18 - 24 month tops from Primark but Tesco t-shirts in 9-12 months fit her. Trousers in 9-12 months are also too long for her. But her shorts from Next 12-18 fit great but we had to buy dresses in 9-12 months from Next.

Thanks for any advice

I found their sizing quite small but the clothes are good quality. The length was probably average but found the trousers small on DSs waist (he is quite chunky though) HTH

ComeOVeneer · 25/07/2006 14:10

I my experience from ordering from Vertbaudet, their clothes come up big -tops aren't too bad but trousers are long and waists are wide. I always order the size below my daughters actual age (and she is pretty average in size) HTH. If your not sure just order one thing for top and one bottom to test them out. (they are very good about returns though).

Quality v.g. on the whole (but no tumble drying)

Sizing - small. My dds are both slim and dd2 (18 mo, like yours!)is small all over (her sister is taller).

DD2 just growing out of 12-18mo, about to move into 18-24mo. next 12-18 fit really nicely, tesco woolies etc still weraing 9-12mo.

HTH

I gthink the sizing is really small. I got tshirts from there this summer and I would advise you to go up a size. my 18 mo dd wears her sister's 3 year t shirts from there (she is big for her age though).

bobsmum · 25/07/2006 14:16

I like Vertbaudet stuff but would be cautious about paying full price for anything. Hang on until the 25% off or higher leaflets start arriving. My dd's small (13 months but still in some 6-9 months stuff) and I find that Vertbaudet tops for her age fit perfectly. The trousers I rarely buy because they're never very stretchy - always "cotton poplin" which doesn't seem to have much give for toddlers. Continental babies must be long and skinny!

I find their trousers very slim fitting. Impossible over a cotton nappy and still not so great over a disposable tbh.

But their range is lovely - especially the most recent catalogue - I'm holding myself back until the special offers start rolling in. Feel strangely drawn towards culottes.....

ComeOVeneer · 25/07/2006 14:19

Guess maybe my dd isn't very average in size at all then as she appears to be the only one the clothes seem to be big on.

Bozza · 25/07/2006 14:20

comeoveneer I am surpised at your comments. I find them to be small. DD is 2.2 and in 12-18 clothes in most shops (Next, Asda etc) - just moving into 18-24 in t-shirts etc but still happily wearing BHS and John Rocha pinafores in 9-12!

When the warm weather started I had just potty trained her and put her into some Asda (2-3) cropped trousers and they literally fell down as she was walking along the landing. The vertbaudet 2-3 fit her great.

Nice clothes, small sizes, pants delivery is my verdict.

cremolafoam · 25/07/2006 14:25

always found vertbaudet sizing to be small. dd is tall but until she was 8 was a definite skinnymelinks-no hips but vertbaudet fit her really well for trousers.
then at 8 when she started expanding a bit even the 11-12 size did not fit round the middle.
now 11 and nothing in vertbaudet will fit at all and alas have had to admit that i can no longer buy lovely colourful pretty clothes.

bobsmum · 25/07/2006 14:26

Cremolafoam - love your name

firstmum45 · 25/07/2006 14:27

Thanks for your comments and Sassy your advice re tumble drying cos I do try to buy stuff that tumbles to cut down on the ironing.

As if we have time to iron!!!

Will have a look on web site to see whats reduced at the moment

thankyou!

sassy · 25/07/2006 14:28

good tip from bobsmum - there are always lots of offers. Do NOT buy full price!

cremolafoam · 25/07/2006 14:31

agree about buying in the sale. Also for lots of the trousers have found good alternatives in Dunnes Redoute Zara or Primark( mostly cheaper.) Tend to buy patterned things that are a bit different from vertbaudet or things in unusiual colours.

Jbck · 25/07/2006 18:41

*Comeoveneer& my dd is very petite & could quite easily get away with at least 1 sometimes 2 sizes below her age from Vertbaudet too. Tops I usually buy her age or thereabouts to get some good wear out of them but she's 5 in September & their 3 year old trousers are perfect on her.
Either everyone elses kids are heffalumps or ours are freakishly tiny

Lemmingswife · 25/07/2006 18:42

I have always found their sizing a little on the small size.

Jbck so how do you explain my DD wearing BHS pinafore in size 9-12 and Vertbaudet outfit in age 2-3?

Actually DD is potty trained and I do wonder if around the age of 2 clothes are dependent on whether they are designed for a nappy or not. The pinafore would probably no longer work with a nappy under it - although it did until the spring.

Miaou · 25/07/2006 22:23

Hmmm - both my dds have skirts, tops and trousers from Verbaudet (courtesy of my mother, I shop at Cancer Research myself ) and they fit them fine (they are 7 and 9 and about average heights for their age)

Miaou · 25/07/2006 22:27

Bozza dd2 was wearing a pair of shorts until last summer (age 6) that were 12-18m

shazronnie · 25/07/2006 22:47

i always find them small.
I would say size 12 mths means up to 12 mths. age 2 means up to age 2 etc.

Bozza · 25/07/2006 22:59

miaou - I personally don't think shorts count because the length is not all that relevent. DS (5) has two pairs of Asda shorts in age 2-3.

serenity · 25/07/2006 23:18

Vertbaudet sizes come up small as they aren't really comparable to UK sizes,

vertbaudet age 3 = 94cm,
Next/tesco/woolies/any other UK age 2/3 = 98cm (big difference)

vertbaudet age 4 = 102cm
UK age 3/4 = 104 cm

That, plus the fact that mainland european clothes tend to be cut to a slimmer fit, means I always order the age above they would be wearing normally.

If you keep ignoring them, they send you really good offers. I can't remember the last time I ordered anything full priced

bubbaloo · 26/07/2006 12:56

I like Vertbaudet clothes but again find they come up very small.Ds is 13mths,quite tall and quite thin. He's been wearing age 2-3 from Vertbaudet for about the last 3-4 months.
