Would like to find something unusual, perhaps personalized, any nice ideas?

try letterbox.co.uk - you can get personalized things like cutlery, placemats, bookshelfs etc

What about adopting a star? It's from about £25. Google on adopt a star to find out more.

brimfull · 21/07/2006 14:51

I had my DS christened when he was 1 and he got:-

  1. An antique framed print - the Naughty Rabbit (i think)

  2. A small silver box to keep stuff in

  3. Cufflinks wtih initials on

  4. Wooden chair with initial carved in seat

  5. Little tiny circular silver box with lid, to keep first tooth in.

Lots more, but those are the ones I remember liking a lot.

Thanks everyone lots of super ideas, its just nice to find something different, we have boxes full of piggy banks, cutlery, Wedgewood bowls etc. He`s such a dear little boy, quite like the adopt a star idea, is it a one off payment?

how about this web site I've ordered quite a few for my own children and friends. Everyone has loved them! here

Lemmingswife · 23/07/2006 10:31

I am reading this with interest, as I have a one year old little boys christening to go to next month too & am stuck for ideas!
I know you live in the same town as me & are friends with my friend, who is also a MN'er. Could we be talking about the same christening here?!

Gillian76 · 23/07/2006 10:32

My mum did the adopt a star thing for my neice last month. Will ask her this afternoon.

mogwai · 23/07/2006 20:52

We will be godparents later this year. We are going to buy a wooden trunk and have it painted by a local artist so that we can have our Godson's name on it.

Our daughter was christened last week and received some lovely presents including jewellery, a jewellery box, treasury of Beatrix Potter stories, personalised book ends, cutlery, a limited edition figurine to start a collection, an M&S Bible, some bodum kids' crockery (very funky) and loads of other stuff. Don't know if anything there grabs ya?

triplets · 23/07/2006 21:39

Lemmingswife, do you know me then, I am intrigued! My christening is on the 13th, at 10am, when is yours?

OP posts:
Lemmingswife · 24/07/2006 09:38

Sounds like the same Christening to me! The one I am going to is at 10am on the 13th August too!!
You don't know me personally, but I have heard lots about you from Tessiebear!
I have been friends with her since the age of three & am Godmother to her DS2. I used to post using a furry nickname, but had to stop using that name. I only used this nickname for relationship thread before.

Mummy2Toby · 24/07/2006 10:29

Hi there - there is a great website here and also - I don't know if I am allowed to say, but if you order through me I can give a discount because I have just started as an advisor, trying to earn some much needed pennies for when my new baby arrives in October.

triplets · 24/07/2006 11:09

Ha Ha Lemmingswife,
Did Tessiebear tell you that it was on here that we met? So I feel at a disadvantage here as you know me but I dont know you! It will be nice to meet you on the big day, very fond of Bobo, and you are lucky to have had Bobos mum as a friend for so long, she is a lovely girl! Still hunting for that gift!

OP posts:
Lemmingswife · 24/07/2006 13:39

She did mention that she met up with you after talking to you on here & now her DS's are at the same school as your triplets!
My H was friends with your brother who lived in York too. We went & stayed with him once because H had a court case there.

Bobo is a real cutie isn't he? His Mum is great too! She is a very close friend of mine. It was her that introduced me to MN!

Looking forward to meeting you on the 13th.

triplets · 24/07/2006 15:53

Gosh what a small world! Richard is my youngest brother, divorced and re-married and now lives in Durham with Karen and Ellie who is 3!Jusr seen Tessiebear at school, she laughed when I told her we had come across each other!

She told me that she has just spoken to you! She is coming round in a bit, because I still haven't got Bobo's birthday present to her, due to having a poorly DS2 that week.

Wow! Richard is now a Daddy! It was years ago that we stayed with him during the nightmare court case!
It sure is a very small world! Looking forward to meeting you at the christening - I am sure we will have lots to talk about!
