scooter for 4 year old

Thought I'd pick your collective brain about a scooter for ds's 4th birthday? I wanted to get him a fold-up one, but my sister has been issuing dire warnings about how dangerous they are - flimsy and sharp. Is this true? Any other recommendations?

We bought DS one for his 4th birthday last year from Argos £19.99. It is sturdier than the metal ones (and significantly cheaper). He absolutely loves it, takes it everywhere, prefers it to his bike probably because it is faster and he feels more in control. Definately one of the best purchases for him.

Stinky - is it a two-wheeler or a three?

We have had a couple of cheap fold-up ones and I wouldn't give them to a child under 7-8 - they have some very nasty edges and also lots of places that could pinch. (The ads say for 6 and over but I think that's a bit young.)

This is the Fimbles one from Argos - does have 3 wheels - is that good or bad? If you want 2 wheels you could look at a more expensive folding one?

Oh - didn't see this one before - it does say 4 and over and it looks great. (£35 though...!)

Thanks for all these links! Janh - the hot wheels one does look good.... What I think I really wanted is a sturdy-ish three wheeler which folds up....probably doesn't exist.
