They are a load of rubbish. Don't waste your money. If they had any active ingredients which the skin could absorb, they would have to be regulated as medicines.

As an aside, apparently a bit of sugar rubbed on the gums is just as effective as teething gel!

we've got some baby bonjela that weve been using but I don't think it lasts very long, also been using chamomilla teething granules (I'm not normally one for homeopathic remedies but I'll try anything when desperate)

I had an online conversation with an amber necklace manufacturer a few weeks ago (I think they're a load of bollocks btw, to give you my perspective). I asked for an explanation of how the "analgesic oils" in the amber which supposedly help the pain actually get into the baby's body, given that body temperature is nowhere near hot enough to melt amber. She said the amber doesn't melt, the oils are "released". I asked how else they could be released from a solid lump of resin without it melting. She helpfully pointed out that semen is released from a penis without the need for it to melt. At this point I gave up... But if any amber-sellers out there would care to explain scientifically how oil is released from a solid without any melting involved, please enlighten me!

Maybe you have to rub the amber in a particularly sensual way? Grin
