Cost of an Audi service?

My Audi a3 is a 2011 reg - I'm a bit late booking it for its first service. It has done 15,000 miles and I've been quoted over £500 from two garages so far Is this a crazy price or just how much it costs?!

Bumpity bump...anyone?

Petrol or diesel? Does it need any tyres, discs or pads?

Should never pay more than £200 ish. Husband works for Audi.

Are you getting these quotes from Audi dealerships?

We take our A4 to the local (non-audi) garage. The last service cost us £200. Both Audi and VW are notoriously expensive for services. Our Audi is out of warranty though, so you might want to stick with them until then otherwise you invalidate your warranty.

My DH says it costs " a couple of hundred quid " for his A4 service. His is older with an awful lot more miles on the clock.
After a few awful customer service experiences we no longer go to the dealership and go to an independent Audi specialist.

Never knew that! In that case, get down to your local 'proper' garage -miles cheaper.

Last service on my Skoda (140,000 mile service on an Octavia vRS) was £280. Methinks someone is extracting the Fosters.

Thanks all - I did think that perhaps they saw me coming. They tried to add in an air conditioning service and pollen filter change too... I feel a bit now! I don't need any new wheels or anything and it's a petrol.

Think I'll be making friends with my local garage rather than the dealership!

Silly question but why would anyone use the dealership if the warranty isn't affected?

How do you think Audi etc pay for their glass palaces? As long as the car is serviced to manufacturer specifications using OEM quality parts they are not legally allowed to refuse warranty claims however it will kill any chance of goodwill outside of the warranty period. Avoid fast fit places like the plague - find a locally recommended Audi specialist. The fact that your service is overdue will probably have voided your warranty anyway although I have no sympathy for people who fail to maintain their vehicles and then have issues.

I use an independent audi garage in north London. They're a darned sight cheaper than Audi and do just as good a job (probably better! ). I also don't get patronised, which is always nice.

I pay over £500 for my A6 to be serviced, BUT it is on the long life service plan which means it only needs it every 2 yrs/20,000 miles. So not expensive really.
Sounds like your is on the same plan, if this is you car's first service and its 2 yrs old, sounds about right.
It might not invalidate your warranty if you take it elsewhere but I can tell you they will make life difficult for you if it develops a problem. Stick with Audi till warranty runs out.

My GF always has always serviced her Audis at Skoda as soon as they've 'enjoyed' the first annual service...always at least 50% off Audi quoted costs and use genuine parts every time.

Much better customer service too, plus it's still VAG so the service stamp keeps its value come resale/trade-in time.
