Hotpoint Washing Machines

Does anyone have one? Mines actually a washer dryer, but the door has just fallen off for the 2nd time in 5 months (hinge has broken).

So is this a common Hotpoint problem? Fortunately it's on extended warranty, 4 years old, but they can't come to fix it until Monday.

How do I live with a 4 year old and no washer until Monday?

My first washing machine was a hotpoint, it was very good, it lasted me 12 years, washing almost everyday for three babies... maybe it is just the model you have, sorry...

Got a Hotpoint Aquarias. 2.5 yo. Been repaired once because supports for drum collapsed. This caused a problem with door also because drum was collapsing into door IYSWIM. Had 10 days without washing machine with 2 yo. Everytime I went anywhere (ie Mum's, MILs, Grandad's) I took a load of washing with me. Fortunately this happened in June so we were wearing lighter clothes (ie took more to make a load). Also DH had 5 day business trip so no washing for him.

Had a Hotpoint washer dryer and thought it was rubbish. It had to be fixed within a month of buying it and finally died about two seconds after the two year guarantee period. As I had moved house and had more room bought a separate Bosch washer and dryer, which I lurve. I was without any washing machine for about three weeks and discovered the joys of a service wash at the local launderette - dropped it of in the morning, picked it up all dry and folded a few hours later. Highly recommended.

Don't mention Hotpoint washing machines to me
mine broke down the day before my baby was born - some kind of electrical problem, entire circuit board inside machine had shorted out. Had extended labour guarantee from John Lewis (where we bought it from) and extended parts guarantee from Hotpoint. Phoned up Hotpoint to arrange repair man to come out - they gave an appointment 12 days later. Explained about new baby, other 3 kids, great need for washing machine but they wouldn't budge. Did eventually get cancellation and got machine fixed but was without machine for over a week - dh had to spend his paternity leave making regular trips to launderette - not great.
In saying that, I did have a hotpoint machine before which was great and lasted for years so either I've got a dud one now or they just don't make them like they used to.

Grrr, another Hotpoint customer here. My washer broke down about a year ago and needed the entire drum replacing. It took about 10 days in total to get it fixed and they were actually quite good about it in the end, letting me off £35 of the call out fee. Only trouble is that the machine is starting to show similar signs again now so I don't think it will be long before the engineer is back at my door Sorry, wish I could help more.

Bagpuss sounds like a similar problem to mine as we had a new drum. Engineer did seem to think it was a common fault.

easy, I don't suppose your 4-yr-old could have been swinging on the door...?
