Can anyone advise me on how effective baby hammocks are? and how safe are they? Does baby get a curved back? and if so is this OK?

Just seen this. We used one for DS in the early days when rocking him in it was the only way to get him to sleep. He was in it for a maximum of 2 hours a night for a couple of weeks (then he got transferred to his cot) and sometimes he just hung out in it during the day.

He has turned into a fantastic sleeper and doesn't seem to have a curved back (he's now a tall 19 month old).

I wouldn't think they were great for sleeping in, the anti-cot death advice is for babies to be flat but used within reason I would think they were fine.

Ours is called the Koala hammock.

Have been looking at the NaturesNest hammock for baby no. 2 and was also wondering if anyone else had any experience of one. Their website is very informative www.naturesnest.co.uk and I think I am going to go for it but just wanted to check if anyone out there knew of anything that contradicts the claims made.
