MrsSpoon · 09/07/2006 23:42

Ironed clothes make your legs look good too Expat!

controlfreaky2 · 09/07/2006 23:44

how exactly mrs spoon (and any other ironing crazed types)??

MrsSpoon · 09/07/2006 23:47

You can have the most glam shoes in the world on but IMO they look nothing without a nicely ironed outfit to go.

If I do the School run wearning my Birkies I still think I look smart because I am wearing a nicely ironed skirt or ironed linen trousers.

For the record I do have other shoes for smarter occasions.

oh i can see there's no sense to be had from you ironing ladies.... have now seen that raging ironing thread...... IRONED JEANS ffs??? that's not just unnecessary / mad, they look HORRID. will stop this virtual shouting now and go upstairs to stroke and pet my birkie collection and mutter to myself....

MrsSpoon · 09/07/2006 23:52

Do you not find the bottom bit of your jeans (particularly bootlegs) are all crumpled looking? I don't get it, it only takes a minute to iron jeans (unless you are putting crip creases down the front or something ).

apronstrings · 09/07/2006 23:55

this is interesting - is there a link btwn birtie wearers and ironing freaks - i wear birkies and iron almost everything ( I sadly gave up ironing tea towels and vests on the birth of my 4th child- i had to let them go ) but everything else is nicely pressed

'Ironed clothes make your legs look good too Expat! '

Not when they're in trousers most of the year b/c it's so bloody cold here.

After I've worn them a month or two in the summer they do whiff a little bit, but as they are natural materials rather than manmade it's not too bad, quite pleasant actually imho lol, I hate the stink you get with manmade materials like slippers. I agree they are not the most beautiful of footwear but I suffer from chronic plantar fasciitus (heel pain - brought upon by step aerobics 10 years ago) and they are the only sandals I can wear without pain. As far as I'm concerned, they're worth their weight in gold!

I have worn mine with socks in Winter

Piffle · 10/07/2006 18:26

mine are 4 yrs and look perfect
def dodgy pair YG
I love mine, they have no odor issues
I wear them under long jeans or around the garden (with clothes on too I hasten to add)I do have more appropriate lady like sandals for such other occasions

auntyquated · 10/07/2006 18:29

they have them in costco for £15 and £20 atm

Piffle · 10/07/2006 18:31

UCMalong with your lady garden issues you are a true pariah

drosophila · 10/07/2006 18:37

All you Birki wearers, how do you clean the footbed. I have a pair and they don't smell but the footed looks black. I've tried baby wipes but not much use.

I have a new pair but they are the thong variety and I am still brealink them in.

Can I just say that for anyone with a bad back they are a godsend!!

All the more reason to iron them then expat!

divamummy · 10/07/2006 21:59

never ahd one. probably never will have. im with mamaG and expat, im more wedges and heels mummy.

MamaG · 11/07/2006 12:18

Hmmmm maybe there is a link between B wearers and manic-ironers - I don't iron. EVER.

YellowFeathers · 11/07/2006 12:28

drosophila

You need to scrub at the footbed, wipes are no good. Something like a nail brush would do it with some suede cleaner, preferably the stuff that you can mix with water or that foams up.

phillip · 11/07/2006 12:40

birkies v good if you're prone to bunions

UCM · 11/07/2006 12:51

MamaG, nope cos' I don't iron anything, ever and I live, breath & sleep in my BKS

MamaG · 11/07/2006 12:53

Thats that theory gone, then

controlfreaky · 11/07/2006 12:54

mmmm anyone ever tried iropning their birkies??

drosophila · 12/07/2006 19:11
