Does a buggy umbrella/sun shade exist that is not a piece of rubbish crappo that wobbles pathetically in a slight breeze?

I don't mind the net sunscreen ones, that go over the pram like a rain cover. I hate how those umbrellas look, so have never had one.

net ones , but i have never seen one in the shops here so i always used to put a big scarf type thing accross the top part, and pick up the back part to let in air..

I have seen some that slot onto the top of the buggy like a roof iyswim.

Want to know if they are any good before I purchase.

dd2 will not tolerate the rain cover so net ones would be a no no I think, would get a size 6 straight through it.

Have cheapo (Ethel Austin!) emergency purchase from yesterday and I swear it would collapse under the weight of a fly.

net raincover type here

near me everyone seems to have things like extra-large black mesh hoods that fit over the buggy's normal hood but I have no clue where they come from - will have a rummage.

MrsBadger · 04/07/2006 09:56

extra-hood type here

oliveoil · 04/07/2006 09:58

I think this is what I have seen, Mothercare

I got one of these for our holiday and I have to say it's the best one we've ever had. I've had 3 umbrellas and a canopy one all naff and broke but no problems with this one

MrsBadger · 04/07/2006 10:00

aha this is the one I see all the time (cheaper here but not such a good picture)

whimsy · 04/07/2006 10:01

That's it MrsBadger, just took me 10 mins to do a link

oliveoil · 04/07/2006 10:01

that looks fab whimsy, do you think it would go on a McClaren, hood is a bit flimsy compared to the one illustrated?

I've a triumph and it's fab. It coils up into a little packet thing, so easy to store when the nice weather comes to an end

MrsBadger · 04/07/2006 10:04

that first link (Practical Kids or whatever) has a list of strollers it fits, including Maclarens, and the pic is of one too.

LilacWine · 04/07/2006 10:06

i 've got one like the protect-a-bub that's £25 in toysrus.

LilacWine · 04/07/2006 10:07

and SIL uses it on a triumph and it's fab.

oliveoil · 04/07/2006 10:08

shall I set a MN challenge to find me the cheapest one?

Cos obvioulsly no one has anything better to do?

xx

MrsBadger · 04/07/2006 10:24

if not Ebay, £22.50 inc delivery here

fuzzywuzzy · 04/07/2006 10:26

Ebay does one here for £8 and free p&p. Least I think it's the same one Whimsy was talking about.
